BOSL

Welcome Bethany Lutheran

and St. John's Schools!

If you notice a large group of 8th graders among us at the 8:00 service tomorrow, be sure to give them a warm Prince of Peace welcome!

Bethany Lutheran School is in Long Beach, CA and is led by Tim Morner, who is a member at St. John's Lutheran Church in Orange, CA. There’s a special connection here, as Pastor, Michael Hayes, previously served as one of Tim’s pastors while at St. John’s before coming to Prince of Peace.

St. John's Lutheran School is in Racine, WI and is led by Pastor Jack Gilbert. They chose Prince of Peace as their place of worship while in town.

For Bethany, tomorrow marks the beginning of their week-long tour. After worship, they’ll be heading to Marine Corps Base Quantico, followed by two and a half days exploring Washington DC. Their journey will then take them to Gettysburg, before finishing with two and a half days in New York City.

We’re glad they are starting their adventure with us, and we hope you’ll help make them feel right at home!

Confirmation 2026

Confirmation Weekend is here! Everyone is invited to join us in celebrating as students confirm their faith in Jesus!

Confirmation Class Witness: Tonight at 7pm in the Sanctuary, Confirmands will give witness to their personal faith through their Confirmation Faith Creations.

The Rite of Confirmation: During the 10:30am service tomorrow Confirmands will confirm their Faith before the congregation.

We invite you to partake in a divine gathering on May 24th, unveiling a glimpse of heaven itself as our diverse congregations unite to honor the Lord and rejoice in the wondrous acts of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost.

Following our worship service, we will bask in the warmth of fellowship over a shared meal. Kindly bring a dish to contribute to our communal feast.

Please note: We will not have our normal services that day. Instead, we will gather for one big service at 10:00 AM, and we encourage all the Prince of Peace family to come show their support for our congregations and the mission of Jesus for ALL NATIONS!

*This service will also be livestreamed at 10:00 am.

VBS arrives early this year! Click on the picture to volunteer or participate.

Music Camp @ PoP - Save the Dates

August 3rd - 7th 2026, Afternoons

Students ages K-6th grade may attend; students ages 7th - 12th grades may be helpers.

Music Camp is going Around the World in Five Days! 🌍✈️

Each afternoon, kids will “travel” to a new place as they learn fun songs, try simple music games and music theory basics, hear exciting Bible stories, and create crafts inspired by different cultures. It’s a playful, hands-on way to explore music, faith, and creativity all in one week!

Camp is led by our Prince of Peace (PoP) music leaders, along with awesome teen helpers from the church who bring tons of energy and encouragement.

Come ready to sing, create, explore, and have a whole lot of fun! On the final day we'll hold a short performance for families.

Is your student interested? Let us know via this link! We'll get more info to you when it's available, likely in June.

Needed Now at ECHO

Spring arrived in the clothing room in mid-March when we made our changeover from fall and winter items to clothing for spring and summer. As you talk to friends and neighbors about making donations to ECHO, please ask them to hold onto their warm clothes for now and plan to donate after mid-August. We have limited space to store clothing for cold weather.

Clothing that is needed now includes short-sleeve t-shirts for men in small and medium sizes, shoes for men in sizes 7 and 8, and athletic shoes for children of all sizes. Donations of packaged underwear and socks for men and boys are always helpful as we only distribute NEW underwear and socks to our clients.

The Food Pantry’s most needed food and personal hygiene items currently are bagged beans (especially red, black and garbanzo), spaghetti sauce, instant coffee, green tea, canned fruit, shampoo, facial tissue, and toilet tissue.

You can drop off your donations in the big white bin in the hallway near the church office.

Be the Hands and Feet of Christ with ECHO

Since 1969, ECHO has been a lifeline for neighbors in Burke and Springfield facing hardship. Founded and supported by local faith communities, 22 congregations today appoint members to the board, give generously, and serve alongside nearly 400 volunteers. Prince of Peace was a founding member of ECHO and has continued its support for more than 55 years. Danny Revard currently represents PoP on the ECHO Board.

ECHO is in need of volunteers one morning a week for three hours to serve in various capacities. Click HERE to sign-up.

If you have questions, call or come by the office and talk to Brad.

Swim for Bethany House Fundraiser

June 6 at 9:00am

Hi, I’m Jerry Nepodal, a Lorton/Spring Hill resident and Springfield Prince of Peace church member. For the past 6 years, many of you have supported me with pledges to my solo swim-a-thon to raise money for the Bethany House of Northern Virginia. In 2024, you helped me raise $12,000. Thank you again.

This year, I’ve recruited two additional fellow Spring Hill residents in hopes of raising our total to $20,000+. Here’s the team for this year, left to right: Jim Clark (age 74), Jerry Nepodal (age 72), and Mike Robey (age 68). These athletes, just peaking at their prime, have courageously volunteered to give their best efforts by swimming continuously, non-stop, as long as they can. Cumulatively, our goal is 12 hours.

We’re asking you to please pledge either a specific amount or an amount per continuous minute that we swim. For example, you may wish to pledge exactly $100 regardless of the total duration of our 3 swims. Or, you may want to pledge money per each minute we swim. If we swim 12 total hours (12 × 60 = 720 minutes) and you pledge $.20 per minute, you would donate $144.

To encourage your pledging, we have secured an $8,000 matching pledge such that when we reach the $8,000 pledge level, that will double to $16,000. Remember, our goal is $20,000+, so please help us go as high as possible.

Please visit our pledge page at:

https://go.rallyup.com/jerryswims26

Bethany House has been serving our neighbors by providing short-term housing to women and children escaping domestic violence. Every dollar we raise will go directly to current housing construction and furnishing projects.

Thank you in advance for considering a pledge. Please let me know if you have any questions by emailing me at toserve@verizon.net.

Climate Change Seminar

Join in on one or all sessions!

image_p1.png

Join us on Saturdays in April and May as we take a look at Climate Change with the first session displaying faith-based reasoning for why we should care about it and how to be better stewards to the earth. Learning about climate change matters because it effects every aspect of our lives from the quality of air, the weather we experience, and even health insurance prices. Understanding it helps us make informed choices, support effective policies, and prepare for the changes already happening.
