A Week of Generosity and Care
Our recent Hypothermia week at Prince of Peace was a meaningful reminder of how God calls us to Serve the World with compassion and care. Each evening, we welcomed up to 40 guests, including 12 women, offering warmth, nourishment, and genuine hospitality. There were over 70 volunteers that worked over 560 hours!
Meals were a true highlight. Dinner and breakfast were both outstanding, thanks to an abundance of generous food donations that ensured every guest was well cared for.
This year’s clothing drive was the largest we have ever had. Nearly all guests were able to receive new or gently used items, including winter coats, undergarments, and other essentials. Many returned throughout the week as new items were continually added. The supply of toiletries was equally generous and replenished daily, with extra items shared with FACETS and ECHO, extending our ability to serve beyond our walls.
A special moment occurred on Tuesday, December 30, when Braddock District Supervisor Rachna Sizemore Heizer and her Staff Aide Alejandra Caballero visited PoP. They joined in by helping distribute clothing and serve the evening meal and expressed appreciation for the work being done, along with a desire to find additional ways to support those in need throughout the year.
That evening was made even more memorable by a trumpet player from our church choir, who filled the space with Christmas music during dinner, adding beauty and joy to the meal.
Thank you to all who gave their time, resources, and hearts. Through your generosity, Prince of Peace lived out its calling to Serve the World, becoming a place of warmth, dignity, and hope for all who entered.

This will be a relaxed and welcoming time to hear from Pastor Michael Hayes as he shares about our church’s story, mission, and community life. It’s also a great chance for us to get to know you! Some of our staff will drop by so you can put faces to names and feel more at home here.
To help us plan, please let us know if you’ll be attending by emailing Tiffany Sears.
Childcare is available—we have a fully staffed nursery for infants through age 4, and Sunday School classes for older children. You’re also welcome to bring your children with you to the event if that’s more comfortable for you.
We hope you’ll join us!

| | Floral Arrangers Desperately Needed | | |
Our altar flowers are lovingly arranged each week by volunteers from our church family, not a florist. Right now, we would love to welcome a few more people to this ministry.
If you enjoy flowers — or are curious to learn — no experience is required. We are happy to teach and support you. Volunteering is usually about once a month (or less as the team grows), the church reimburses flower costs, and you may arrange them in your own creative style.
If this sounds like something you might enjoy, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to Arla Albers. Your creativity and care could help make our worship space bloom, and we would be grateful to share this ministry with you.

| Thank You from the Holy Comforters! | | |
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made Holy Comforter’s quilt sale such a success. From sewing and tying to setup, teardown, and purchasing quilts, your generosity helped nearly every quilt find a new home.
The funds raised will support batting, supplies, and shipping so we can continue sharing warmth through Lutheran World Relief, reaching far beyond our walls. A special thanks to Thrivent for the grants that made our new sewing machines possible. They have truly transformed our work, and our sewers could not be happier.
Want to join the fun? We resume Thursdays beginning January 8, from 9:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Come for an hour or stay all day. Bring a bagged lunch, enjoy dessert on us, and jump right in. No sewing experience needed. If you can tie a shoe, we can use your help. No registration required, just show up. Fabric donations are always welcome.
Come help stitch comfort and care into the world!

Each month, we will share a resource so you’re aware of what’s available at Prince of Peace. We encourage you to keep an eye on these updates, as needs can change and you never know when you or a friend, neighbor, or family member might be blessed by one of these services.
This month, we want you to know that several mobility aids are available for short-term use. Do you have a visitor or neighbor recovering who could use a walker or wheelchair? We have you covered. Contact Brad Womble.
