OTHER NEWS
Care Ministry
Greetings in the name of Christ,

As we approach summer with the promises of rest and relaxation the Care Ministry wanted to update the congregation on areas that are currently serving the POP congregation plus a look into future ministries..

I would like to thank the members serving on the Visitation Team. They include Janet Podgorski (Lay Leader), Brad Womble, Tiffany Sears, Linda Harley, Susan Caputo, Jill Foster, John Schmidt, and Darlene McCoy (meals). Additionally, Cecelia Breazeale and Deborah Nepodal serve as leads with the Card Ministry. All these individuals serve selflessly and are blessings to the POP family.

Thankfully, as the COVID risks have diminished members of the team have been able to begin at home visits, make phone calls, and send e-mails to routinely checking on designated members. “ZOOM” communion is offered to homebound members and is led by our pastors. Hospital visits continue by the pastors and Deaconess Cassie.

A thirteen-week Divorce Support group was led by Michelle Mosford and Brad Womble and is completed. In September, a Divorce Support group led by Brad Womble and a Grief Share group led by Nina Rumhor will be offered. Additionally, a new program called Divorce Care for Kids will begin in the Fall led by Brad Womble and trained volunteers. This program will be offered for children experiencing the challenges of divorced or divorcing parents. All these programs will be offered to POP members and the larger community.

Holy Comforters continue to provide care and compassion through their beautiful quilts that are given to Lutheran World Relief for distribution throughout the world.

The Stephen Minister ministry has two POP members who are certified Stephen Ministers. These members will be available to meet and serve individuals in need of one-to-one compassionate listening and care during challenging life experiences.
