The Board of Servant Leaders (BoSL) is seeking nominations for two members-at-large to serve on the BoSL Nominating Committee (short-term 1-2 month commitment).

Serving the World in Asia

Prince of Peace has been given the opportunity to participate in the distribution of Bibles, food, and school supplies to families and churches in Asia through Sowers Ministry. Each Bible costs $6 and helps share the Word of God with someone in their native language. Food and school supplies will also be provided to those in need.

If you would like to help, you may donate to the Bible and Food Fund or bring school supplies to the main office by April 1. (Any school supplies are good. There is a big need for markers, crayons, and colored pencils. Money cannot be donated toward school supplies. Money can be donated toward the food and bible fund.) Please see Brad Womble if you are interested in helping serve the world in such a special way.

Serve the World - Volunteer at ECHO

Here is your opportunity to serve the world through ECHO (Ecumenical Community Helping Others). Prince of Peace was a founding member of ECHO in 1968. Other founding members included Grace Presbyterian, Kirkwood Presbyterian, St. Bernadette’s Catholic, St. Christopher’s Episcopal, St. John’s Methodist, St. Mark’s Lutheran, Springfield United Methodist, and Westwood Baptist.

Danny Revard currently represents Prince of Peace on the board. Weekly donations placed in the large white bin in the back hall help support over 1,400 families in our neighborhood.

There are many ways you can be part of this ministry. Bring nonperishable food items and place them in the ECHO bin in the back hall. You can also help by filling one of the much-needed volunteer slots at ECHO.

Climate Change Seminar

Join us on Saturdays in April and May as we take a look at Climate Change with the first session displaying faith-based reasoning for why we should care about it and how to be better stewards to the earth. Learning about climate change matters because it effects every aspect of our lives from the quality of air, the weather we experience, and even health insurance prices. Understanding it helps us make informed choices, support effective policies, and prepare for the changes already happening.

Sacred Heart Counseling is now offering their services here at Prince of Peace. They specialties of service include children, youth, adult, marriage and more. Please contact Katie Atwell by email at katie@sacredheartva.com or by calling 571-300-0205.

Gracing Spaces

Do you have furniture or other household items in good condition looking for a new home?

For over 20 years, Gracing Spaces, a Burke, Virginia all-volunteer nonprofit organization, has provided furniture and household items to clients of Fairfax County social workers. Each week, some 65 volunteer dispatchers, haulers, warehouse workers, and client coordinators help recently homeless neighbors establish new homes. See FY25 Gracing Spaces Annual Report for more information.

If you have items to donate, click Donate Home Goods | Gracing Spaces to arrange a donation and pickup. Your donation will help serve the world by helping others in need.

For the last year, Howard Albers has been picking up used furniture and household items for Gracing Spaces, and he will be happy to answer your questions.

Altar Flower Dedications

Altar flowers are a wonderful way to honor or remember a family member, celebrate an anniversary or birthday, or donate flowers for a special event.

Please sign up to donate flowers on the flower calendar located just inside the double doors on the left, in the hallway across from the soda machine. The donation amount is $40.

If you prefer, you may also sign up online at https://www.poplc.org/resources/church-forms-information/ and click on “Dedicate Flowers.” We have lots of open dates available.

You are welcome to take the flowers home after the 10:30 service if you have purchased them for the day. Please return the container so it can be reused.

If you have questions, please contact Arla Albers.
