Dear Prince of Peace Family,
We have been closely watching the weather forecast for this weekend, and due to the predicted conditions, we have decided not to hold on-campus worship this Sunday, January 25.
As a result:
- One recorded worship service will be shared online for the congregation’s convenience and can be used for both our 8:00 and 10:30 worship times. The link will be available Sunday morning, and we will share it through email, text, our website, and social media.
- There will be no Sunday School classes
- No music rehearsals will take place
In honor of National Lutheran Schools Week, this special worship service has been rescheduled to next Sunday, February 1, at 10:30 a.m., due to the snow.
The good news is that the Chili Cook-Off is still a go! We’re looking forward to warming up with a bowl of award-winning chili, good company, and a little friendly competition before the storm rolls in.
As a reminder, Prince of Peace follows Fairfax County Public Schools when determining closures for both church and school offices.
As the weather approaches, we also encourage you to check in on neighbors, especially those who may need a little extra help staying safe and warm.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility. We’ll continue to communicate by email and text as needed, and we look forward to being together online this Sunday.
Stay safe and warm,
Prince of Peace Staff

| | Serve the World Through ECHO! | | |
ECHO’s Food Pantry uses paper grocery bags and plastic sleeves that are used for home-delivered newspapers. While these are things one might normally recycle or discard, we ask you to save them for ECHO
Currently, the Food Pantry especially needs Masa flour, spaghetti sauce, lemon juice, canned fruits packed in juice, laundry detergent, shampoo and deodorant, but they can use all types of non-perishable foods and hygiene items. Please choose “regular” sizes, not giant-sized products. Remember that, for safety purposes, ECHO cannot distribute foods that are past an expiration date or that have been opened or re-packaged.
If you have donations you can drop them off right here at Prince of Peace! There is a large white bin on wheels in the hallway off the church office. Just drop your items in there anytime!

| We live in a “I can do it myself” culture. That has been cultivated by our access to technology. Yet the question is, “Do I need help to create my Christian estate plan?” This month we consider that your estate plan represents the biggest collection of decisions with far more impact than any others in life. Estate planning is more than a task such as filing your income taxes online. Your attorney, financial advisor, insurance representative and tax advisor all have a responsibility to help you plan well. Your LCMS Foundation Gift Planning Counselor can help make sure all the communication is working with all these people, also making sure that your goals are being respected. Contact Pastor John Denninger, our Southeastern District, Gift Planning Counselor. |
| Floral Arrangers Desperately Needed | | |
Our altar flowers are lovingly arranged each week by volunteers from our church family, not a florist. Right now, we would love to welcome a few more people to this ministry.
If you enjoy flowers — or are curious to learn — no experience is required. We are happy to teach and support you. Volunteering is usually about once a month (or less as the team grows), the church reimburses flower costs, and you may arrange them in your own creative style.
If this sounds like something you might enjoy, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to Arla Albers. Your creativity and care could help make our worship space bloom, and we would be grateful to share this ministry with you.

Each month, we will share a resource so you’re aware of what’s available at Prince of Peace. We encourage you to keep an eye on these updates, as needs can change and you never know when you or a friend, neighbor, or family member might be blessed by one of these services.
This month, we want you to know that several mobility aids are available for short-term use. Do you have a visitor or neighbor recovering who could use a walker or wheelchair? We have you covered. Contact Brad Womble.
