Knowing what to expect as you move through the health care system with cancer can be daunting as you interact with health care professionals and insurance companies, labs, x-rays and case managers. Having the skills to successfully navigate the health care system, includes communicating effectively with care providers and learning to the necessary tools for self-advocacy. If there is a health care issue , get more involved with your health care by asking questions, talking to your clinician, and understanding your condition. Patients and families who engage with health care providers should ask good questions and help reduce the risk of misunderstandings. Online Workshop: Strategies for Effectively Managing Cancer-Related Pain with Sandra H. Sacks, MD, MED

This workshop will center on essential strategies for effectively managing cancer-related pain. We'll delve into the diverse array of medications employed for various pain syndromes, differentiating between those used for tumor-related pain, neuropathy stemming from chemotherapy, post-operative pain, and radiation-induced pain. Additionally, we'll explore the compatibility of different medications, the potential benefits of medical cannabinoids, techniques for incorporating supplements and complementary therapies into your pain management plan, and strategies for mitigating side effects like opioid-induced constipation. Have you been thinking about learning to knit or crochet? Do you have creative hands? Or do you just want to enjoy chatting while knitting a scarf or a beanie? Studies shows that, beyond medical adherence, social support has been associated with improved physical and emotional health and well-being among cancer survivors. All skill levels and anybody impacted by cancer are welcome to attend. Please come and join our Knotty Knitters: Knitting Group and learn how to knit and make new friends. Knitting needles and yarn will be provided. This group welcomes members to knit, crochet, or any other kind of needlework.

She will walk you through our different programs like support groups, counseling, and mind/body classes. Remember these are at no cost!

  • 9:30 - 11:30 AM: 1 Volunteer needed weekly to help check-in and greet attendees, assist with registration and other general questions attendees might have


Wednesday Afternoons

  • 3:30 - 4:30 PM: 1 volunteer needed weekly to help check-in and greet yoga class attendees, minimal set up for the class


Thursday Early Afternoons

  • 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM: 1 volunteer to check-in and greet participants, help set up chairs or tables as needed

In-Person Yin Yoga: 12-Week Spring Class

April 2nd - June 18th

This new series will be led by Raquel, a yoga practitioner from Harmony Family Yoga. Yin Yoga is slow paced yoga style, where the poses are held for a longer period of time. Download the flyer for more information.
