Kids' Bunny Yoga

Enjoy a fun morning doing yoga with adorable bunny companions! This event is for children aged 5 - 13 that are impacted by cancer. Attendance is limited to 12 participants, registration is required, and parents must stay in the building the entire duration of the event. This event is led by Harmony Family Yoga, a friend of CSCVVSB, and their bunnies have been specially trained for yoga. Download the flyer for more information.

Nominate an Oncology Superhero!

Nominations are due by August 16th


We invite you to nominate your favorite supportive care medical professional. While we love and appreciate our doctors for all of their care and hard work, these awards are for supportive medical staff (examples: Oncology Nurse, Nurse Navigator, Physician Assistant, Social Worker, Home Health Care Nurse, Hospice Nurse, Physical Therapist). The Oncology Hero will be honored at this year's Celebration of Hope Garden Party on Sunday, September 15, in Thousand Oaks and is expected to be in attendance to receive the award.

Founders’ Distinguished Service Award


As we launch the first annual Founders’ Distinguished Service Award, we will introduce the nominees in our weekly newsletter, leading up to the announcement of the 2024 final winners in the August 25th newsletter. The committee would like to thank all that took the time to submit nominations for our very deserving nominees to honor their commitment and contributions to Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara!

Nominee: Andrea Roschke – Volunteer, Service, Philanthropy - Andrea has consistently provided her professional CPA guidance to the CSC Finance committee, served as a Board Member & Chair for many years, made substantial financial gifts and gift referrals to support the organization. Andrea’s leadership and support of the organization is admirable!


Nominee: Anne Gessert - MS, LMFT. – Service – Anne is a highly respected and beloved psychotherapist and support group facilitator with 28 years of dedicated service to CSCVVSB. In addition to her role as a long-time facilitator, she also played a critical role in program development as Program Director Assistant. She has contributed significantly to fostering a warm and welcoming culture within the organization. She extends caring check-ins and welcome messages to administrative staff and volunteers alike. Furthermore, she provides valuable observations and critical feedback to enhance the organization’s success and longevity. Her impact on CSC’s participants, their families, and the whole community is beyond measurable. Despite her many contributions, Anne is a humble and modest individual who rarely seeks recognition. She expresses gratitude through her actions.

The speaker will address the potential gastrointestinal side effects of NSCLC treatment, provide strategies for symptom management, and offer specific guidance on coping with the emotional impact of this disease. CALM Art stands for Creative Alpha-wave Lessons for Mindfulness, focusing on using meditative art practices to rest and unclutter the mind. During your cancer journey, cognitive thinking processes can become overwhelmed by constant information. CALM Art helps you slow down, reduce overthinking, and enhance mindfulness. Are you or is someone you know impacted by cancer? You are not alone. We are here to support you! Please come to our Orientation and meet Maddie, our Program Coordinator. She will walk you through our different programs like support groups, counseling, and mind/body classes. Remember these are at no cost!
