GIVING TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 28TH
GIVING TUESDAY is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. Created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.
Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara is so thankful for the support from our community throughout the year. As we wrap up the year in this last quarter, we are hyper-focused on 2024 planning and our year-end giving campaign to meet our budget goals. Our year-end appeal letter is in process, so keep an eye on your mailbox for that. With your help, we can continue to provide much needed support to the community!
In that letter, we introduce you to Laura and her daughters, Annemarie, Guila and Lillie. At a very young age, their father Gary was diagnosed with prostate cancer and then an unrelated cancer that had spread to his bones. They turned to CSC for help. The girls attended Kid’s Circle, Gary attended support groups, and Laura attended a caregivers group. Sadly, Gary passed away after 4 ½ long years of treatment. Laura and the girls continued to be involved with CSC events, support groups and Kid’s Circle. Laura writes, “My daughters are stronger because of Cancer Support Community and are now successful young adults. CSC gave us something to look forward to when our days were dark.” You can read Laura’s entire story here.
CSCVVSB needs your help to continue our work, for families like Laura’s. Please consider a sustaining monthly gift, an end-of-year gift, or including us in your estate plans.

Many feelings can be part of supporting a loved one through cancer treatment –fear, hope, helplessness, and often a sense of aloneness. Download the flyer to see the time and dates of our family and friends groups. Groups are facilitated by Marty, RN, MN, and Anne Gessert, MS, LMFT.

Viva La Pasta Restaurant Fundraiser
Now through December 31st
Restaurant owners of Viva La Pasta in Simi Valley, Tino and Maria Divito, have witnessed many people in the neighborhood fall victim to cancer. “Dear friends, dear clients, and close family have died fighting this terrible disease,” says Maria. To join in that fight, Viva La Pasta will donate proceeds from its Seafood Risotto to Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara. Made with New Zealand mussels, clams, shrimp, and scallops in a zafferano (saffron) sauce and served over traditional Arborio rice, the dish is one of the restaurant’s bestsellers.
