Welcome to Community Connect - November 7, 2022

Meet Maddie, our new Program Coordinator!

I’m really excited to be a part of the Cancer Support Community VVSB team! I’ve always had a passion for serving in the community and am excited to be working with all these great people. A little about myself, I graduated from CSUN in 2020 with my bachelor’s degree in sociology. I chose sociology because I’ve always loved working with people and wanted to serve my community. Furthermore, I am a huge animal person. I have 3 cats and 2 dogs. I wish I could have more, but I don’t have the space. I also love to travel. My favorite place right now is Maui, but I would love to travel to Greece. Additionally, I have always admired cars. I know absolutely nothing about them, but I love to look at them. I own a blue ford mustang and it is my baby. If you see the blue mustang in the parking lot know I’m here and ready to help you!

Great News! Our office is open!

Office hours are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Thursday.

For the safety of our participants, visitors and staff, safety protocols and recommendations from the CDC, OSHA, our healthcare partners and Professional Advisory Board members have been incorporated into our operations and guidelines. All participants and visitors to our office will be required to show proof of vaccination (full primary series of Pfizer, Moderna or J&J), boosters are strongly recommended, and medical exemptions will be accepted following the CDPH guidelines. For the time being, masks will also be required to be worn while in our facility.

The status of each support group and class, whether online, in-person or hybrid will be announced within the groups, on our website and through our weekly Community Connect newsletter. We look forward to seeing you!

Giving Back

"As part of becoming a Bar Mitzvah, I needed to do a project that benefited society. I decided my project would be to raise money for Cancer Support Community VVSB. I chose this worthy organization because it meant so much to my Great Aunt Ruth Freund, who passed away in December of 2021. Every year my family and I would join my Aunt Ruth at the Cancer Survivor Luncheon in June, where we would honor those who had passed from cancer, those who battled it or were battling it. This luncheon always meant a lot to me. One year during the butterfly release, one of the butterflies landed on my eyelid. The Thousand Oaks Acorn managed to get a picture of it. I am honored to devote my efforts to collecting cans and bottles over the year. I was able to raise $255.00 for Cancer Support Community VVSB. I hope it makes a difference." ~Noah Zahn
