2020 SUMC Leadership Team
First of all, thank you to everyone who has served on the Leadership team. Your work has laid a solid foundation for SUMC as we move to the new year.

Your 2020 Leadership Team cannot work without your support, prayers and commitment to helping SUMC make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Please take a moment to look over the 2020 Leadership Team list. Follow the link below:

Christmas signs: If you used a yard sign this year, please return it to the church. We will clean them up and reuse next year.
Beginning Conversation
Another year passes; a new year begins. For the United Methodist Church (UMC), 2019 was a year of turmoil. And going forward in 2020, it most likely will be a year of decisions. The next session of the General Conference will be in May 2020. There has been a lot of information going around regarding what is going to happen and the future of the UMC. Some information is accurate; some is rumor.

Starting on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, we will have Beginning Conversation each Wednesday evening, at 7:00, after Wednesday Night Supper in the Fellowship Hall.

This is a time for discussion, taking your questions, and giving what information is known and accurate. We will make every attempt to get answers for your questions from each week.

Everyone here at Senoia UMC is encouraged and welcome to attend Beginning Conversation. We may be at different points in our journey and have different opinions, but we all have one thing in common: we love God and our church. There is one thing each and everyone of us can do: pray, for our church and leaders.

Come and join in on Beginning Conversation. You don’t need to sign up to attend every week. Come as you are available. The discussion will be led by Pastor Ashley and Barb Combs. If you have any questions, please see or contact Pastor Ashley or Barb.
District Training Event
Saturday, February 1 – District Training Event, 9 -11:30am, Fayetteville First UMC.

The Annual District Training Event will begin with a “Breakfast Church”, which will be a Fresh Expressions workshop following the format of the popular Dinner Church.

Following the breakfast workshop, participants will then choose to participate in 1 of 8 training sessions offered from 10:15-11:30am. Because we will be serving breakfast, we are asking participants to pre-register by January 27 so that we can get an accurate count for food.

Register here: , or call or email the District Office.
Your 2020 Word of the Year
Here it is, January. Another new year and the same old question… “What are you going to do differently in 2020?”

And we all know what happens with New Year’s resolutions. They’re usually forgotten by mid-February and replaced with a heap of discouragement.

Let’s make 2020 different.
What if you replaced your resolutions with truth from God’s Word? What if you chose to focus on this one theme all year, helping you filter decisions, calm emotions, and face each day with resolve?

God’s Word serves as a reminder of His truth in your life and inspires you to live your faith each and every day.

Let us help you discover a theme from God’s Word that may just meet you exactly where you are and help you live out 2020 in an intentional way.  #LiveYourFaith

You are only 7 questions away from your 2020 Word of the Year.

Ladies Eat Out: Let’s start 2020 in fellowship at Maguire's for lunch. Meet up at 11:30, Thursday, January 16th. If you know ahead of time, let Barb know if you can attend. Otherwise, come on and join us.
January Sermon Series
Confirmation class
Confirmation class will begin this Sunday, January 12, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

This first class is for both the Confirmands and their parents. We will go over the schedule, speak a little about possible day-trips, a retreat, and other assorted things.

Parents, bring all your questions for us! Jean Cotton and Barb Combs will be teaching the classes along with Pastor Ashley. Contact any of us if you have questions.
Senoia UMC members: Please keep our Confirmands in your prayers as they take this faith journey.
Read It & Reap Book Club
Read It & Reap book club will be meeting the 2nd Monday evening, at 7:00 in the JOY Room.

January's gathering is Tuesday the 13th! Our book for January is Failure is Not an Option by Gene Kranz. It's a great book and a pretty easy read about the space program in the US, but specifically about the Apollo 13 flight. If you haven't had time to get the book and read it all by then, come on over anyway as we all probably have memories about this event.

Hope to see you all then! Barb
United Methodist Men
All men of the church are invited to our 2020 Kick-off Breakfast meeting Sunday morning, January 19, at 8:30am in the Fellowship Hall.

Let Skip or Doug know if you are coming so they can provide enough breakfast. There’ll be hot coffee for all.
