Torah Talk
Saturday, November 4 (date change)
10:30 a.m.
via Zoom
We will be discussing Parashat Vayera,Genesis 18:1-22:24.
In this Torah portion, three guests arrive at Abraham and Sarah’s tent. They inform Abraham that God will give the elderly Sarah a child. The prophesy comes true, and they name their son Isaac. God informs Abraham that Sodom and Gomorrah will be destroyed, though Abraham attempts to convince God otherwise. God tells Abraham to sacrifice Isaac. Abraham obliges but is told that it was a test of faith and offers a ram to sacrifice instead.
PLEASE contact Ellen Lerman at Lermanell@aol.com if you are interested in joining this zoom session.

Newsletter announcement for Lone Soldier Messages
The Lone Soldier Project
East Valley JCC supports Lone Soldiers on active duty in the IDF in partnership with three Lone Soldier Centers in Israel. We also educate the population of Arizona about the vital role these courageous young adults play in the defense of the Jewish Homeland. The needs of Lone Soldiers have dramatically escalated with the combat required for the war with Hamas. They are all in harms way!! At this time of the year, we conduct a Hanukkah Greeting Campaign at 40 sites around the state. This year, of course, this effort has been modified to include our prayers for their safety and welfare.
You are invited to send a message to a Lone Soldier by:
1.Sending it the EVJCC, 908 N Alma School Road, Chandler AZ, 85224 (label LSP)
2.Visit evjcc.org/greetings to upload your message by tapping “Write a Letter or Upload Artwork” Start your message with "Name"
3.Send your message in an email to lonesoldiers@evjcc.org
These messages will be bundled and sent to our 3 Lone Soldier Centers in Israel, to arrive by Hanukkah. We pray that the situation in Israel will stabilize by then to allow celebration of the holiday and to read our messages.

Remember "Mom" and the other women!
Reminder: There are hungry neighbors and families experiencing food insecurity throughout the Valley, throughout the year -- even if we can't always see it. And there are women who can't afford basic feminine products. Our food collection bin for Mom's Pantry is always in our lobby, and our Kehillah Cares bag for women4women tempe is in our ladies' room.
Please bring food and toiletry donations whenever you attend an event or services.

Dear Friends,
It has come to our attention that once again scam emails are being sent out to various synagogues, from someone claiming to be a member of their board of directors, requesting gift cards.
Please know that Congregation Kehillah’s board members, staff, and committee members will not email any requests for gift card purchases or wiring money.
If you have a question as to the validity of an email, please forward it to us at info@congregationkehillah.org so that we can confirm.
L’Shalom,
Renee B Joffe
