PLEASE BRING YOUR PASSOVER FOOD ITEMS THIS FRIDAY NIGHT OR SUNDAY, MARCH 26TH DURING YEP! HOURS.
Help Local Families in Need During Our Passover Food Drive
In the past year, we've seen a startling increase in the number of people experiencing food insecurity. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, food prices climbed nearly 10% in 2022.
Our Passover Food Drive, in collaboration with the Bureau of Jewish Education, provides local families in need with traditional kosher for Passover food to observe the holiday. Join us in helping ease the burden for local Jewish individuals and families, so that together all may celebrate Passover with dignity and pride, by donating to our Passover Food Drive.
Here’s how it works:
• Your donation goes to purchase grocery gift cards for kosher for Passover fresh meat and vegetables.
• The gift cards are combined with donated packaged kosher foods such as matzah, gefilte fish, and candy, cookies and cake mixes from the Bureau of Jewish Education of Greater Phoenix.
• Volunteers assemble and pack the grocery gift cards and Passover foods into boxes and distribute them to individuals and families in need right here in our community during Passover.

Can you feel it? That blank slate, new year feeling? We hope everyone had an exciting new years eve celebration! We enjoyed seeing much of you for Mazelpalooza and New Year's Eve Shabbat. Our community members celebrated a milestone in 2022 - new jobs, new friends, engagements, weddings, new homes, and so much more! We are just in awe of all that you do and accomplish. We can't wait to see what's in store for everyone this next year!!
Upcoming Shabbat dinners in March 🍽️
We are excited to share TWO upcoming Shabbat dinner events coming up in the next few weeks as well as a Jewlyweds Game Night.
🌟 Friday, March 17th Shhhhbat Speakeasy Series #2- Join us on St Patrick's day! We will have dinner and drinks on Shabbat in a cool hidden speakeasy. This time we have a reservation booked for 12 people at a speakeasy in Old Town Scottsdale, but you have to RSVP to find out the exact location. Get those RSVPS in before we fill up!
Hint on the location: With flavors from around the world, you will surely find something to delight in! Sip on your favorite spirits while enjoying a local singer-songwriter. Just be sure you don't miss the entrance, as it can be entirely hidden.
🌟 Friday, March 24th Home-y Shabbat - We're excited to bring you a fun and educational Shabbat dinner! We're partnering with a good friend to discuss a very important topic- home buying! Are you in the market to buy a home or looking to in the future? We'll have Shabbat dinner and discuss an "adult-ish" topic over dinner in the home of a community member, Daniel Fischpan. Daniel is a mortgage lender who will provide insight into the home-buying process! Hang out with your peers and discuss a vital life topic. RSVP here.

Lastly, I wanted to give a quick shoutout to one of our INCREDIBLE members, Aleeza Kaplan who is now the official 🤘 Phoenix Community Hub manager 🤘 for the organization OneTable. OneTable provides funding and empowers folks (21-39ish) to find, share, and enjoy Shabbat dinners, making the most of their Friday nights.
If you have an interest in hosting a Shabbat dinner for your peers, please reach out to her at aleeza@onetable.org or sign up at OneTable.org. More details to come on this opportunity!
As always, text/email us with any questions or great ideas for new events at 602-686-3010.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Congregation Kehillah has been issued a $124.99 donation from the AmazonSmile Foundation as a result of AmazonSmile program activity between October 1 and December 31, 2022.

Tzedakah: We all have choices as to who or what we wish to support; why choose your synagogue? Because we are YOUR synagogue. You chose to be a part of this inspirational community that offers a wonderful teacher and spiritual leader in Rabbi Sharfman; superb opportunities for young families to educate their children; programming for all ages; and much, much more, offering impact and value, depth and meaning to your life.
Unlike most synagogues, Congregation Kehillah does not do a High Holy Days Appeal. Dues alone do not cover a synagogue’s operational expenses; we rely on donations of all sizes throughout the year. Did you know . . . that it is customary to donate at the time of Yizkor or when Kaddish is recited in memory of a loved one? It is also customary to make a donation when given an Aliyah (honor) during a service. Jewish Philanthropy: The Concept of Tzedakah is a much-admired practice throughout the world. "In Jewish tradition, tzedakah requires the donor share his or her compassion and empathy along with the money. Judaism teaches the belief that donors benefit from tzedakah as much [as] or more than the recipients." You can find out more about the roots and practices of Jewish philanthropy at Learning to Give. We hope you choose to continue to support your Kehillah by making donations to our various funds, which are listed below and on our website.

Dear Friends,
It has come to our attention that once again scam emails are being sent out to various synagogues, from someone claiming to be a member of their board of directors, requesting gift cards.
Please know that Congregation Kehillah’s board members, staff, and committee members will not email any requests for gift card purchases or wiring money.
If you have a question as to the validity of an email, please forward it to us at info@congregationkehillah.org so that we can confirm.
L’Shalom,
Renee B Joffe
