We are headed into a Special Session at the Capitol in St. Paul. A state budget must be approved by July 1 to avoid a government shutdown. We must encourage our Legislators to make sure this does not happen.

| | Southeast Metro Development Summit | | Last week, Tony Schertler, Lisa Alfson and the CDA coordinated a Southeast Metro Development & CRE Summit, which was held at DCR Member Mendakota Country Club. The event featured many DCR members and partners including, Jeff LaFavre, IAG Commercial, Patrick Marty, Ryan Companies, Jack Eickhof, Chips Pickleball, Stephanie Aman, City of Farmington and Adam Kienberger and Eric Van Oss, City of Rosemount. Opportunities for regional growth were a key focus of the discussion. | | Mendota Heights State of the City | | Mayor Stephanie Levine presented the State of the City last week to a full Council Chambers. Community members were eager to hear about the future of their fair city. Click HERE to watch the video presentation, which accompanied the address. | | Farmington State of the City | | |
Mayor Joshua Hoyt also gave Farmington's State of the City address last week sharing current happenings and exciting future projections for the City. In his address, Mayor Hoyt highlighted Farmington's ongoing transformation from a small agricultural town into a vibrant suburban community. The presentation will be available soon on the City of Farmington website.

| | Economic Development Conference Features Rosemount Staff | | Last week’s Economic Development Conference in Stillwater featured a panel on Tech Driven Development. Economic Development Director Adam Kienberger joined partners from Xcel and the U of M to give background on the Meta Project and to share lessons with other professionals from across the Midwest. The meeting was planned by Economic Development Manager Eric Van Oss. Information provided by the City of Rosemount. | | Dakota County Cannibas Ordinance Adopted | | As called for by state law, the Dakota County Board adopted a Cannabis Ordinance last week that allows, but regulates, adult-use cannabis and lower-potency hemp edibles. The ordinance establishes local registration, annual compliance checks, and enforcement for cannabis retailers in cities and townships that opt into county oversight. It includes reasonable time, place, and manner restrictions, without banning businesses, and sets an annual fee schedule ($500 to register a retailer, $1,000 to renew).
