Welcome to the Revised Common Lectionary.

Join us as we journey through the church year.

Saturday, Nov. 16 through Friday, Nov. 22

Opening Prayer: God of the beginning and of the end, you ask us to put our trust not in worldly things, but in heavenly things. As we navigate the challenges of daily life and the much larger challenges faced by our communities and all creation, give us confidence in your power and grace, that we might live into our faith each day. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Consider: Consider this theme for the week’s text.

A disciple was adoring the grand appearance of the temple, but Jesus declared to him that the temple would come to its destruction. When his disciples inquired him about the sign of such destruction, Jesus exhorted them to be alert to the confusion and calamities that would take place in the future.

Reflect and Connect: Reflect on the following questions; connect in conversation with others.

  • What was a high point of your day? What was a low point?
  • What is the most magnificent piece of architecture that you’ve experienced? What made it special? How is it significant to you?
  • Where do you think God is leading your life? Will there be twists and turns? Will there be inspiration and direction?
  • For the littles: What’s the biggest building you’ve ever been in? Did you like it?

Do: By acting on what we learn, we make God’s word come alive. Do the following activity this week.

Take a look at the events of 2024. Compare them to the events at this time in 2023. Consider how your life has changed in just one year. Consider how your life might change in the next year.
