Community Conversation on Striving for Racial Equity
The Golden City Council wants to be proactive in finding ways to combat systemic racism. The first step is to hear from you, our residents and business owners, and to do that, the City has held three Community Conversations. The most recent meeting was held on Jan. 13, and facilitated by Dr. Nita Mosby Tyler, Chief Catalyst and founder of The Equity Project, LLC., to help achieve a productive conversation.

Many members of the community joined the meeting live that evening, but if you missed it, we invite you to watch the recorded meeting at GCO.tv or on YouTube, and give us your thoughts and insights at www.guidinggolden.com/striving-for-racial-equity

City Council Study Session Recap
City Council met in Study Session last night, Jan. 19. Watch the full meeting at GCO.tv.

Golden City Council held a Study Session last night to discuss two items related to strategic planning. Golden Fire Chief Alicia Welch spoke about the City hiring a consultant to provide technical expertise to conduct a Cooperative Efforts Feasibility Study for the Golden, Fairmount and Pleasant View Fire Departments. The study will help the agencies determine if they are providing adequate fire, rescue and emergency medical service coverage in their individual departments, or if there are opportunities for the departments to collaborate to provide redundant services, or if a complete consolidation is the best option. The study should take at least 6 months and will be seeking input from community members, elected officials and fire department staff. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Fire Chief Alicia Welch at (303) 384-8090.

City Manager Jason Slowinski and his staff presented to Council a revised version of the Strategic Action Plan based on previous feedback from Council and staff. Also presented were the measures of success that will be utilized to track the City’s progress on each action item described in the plan. You can see the entire meeting from last night at GCO.tv or www.cityofgolden.net/Agendas.
