Dear Parents,
We are all overwhelmed with Gratitude for the kindness of our Kids For Kids Academy families. Our Publix gift card food drive raised enough to give 10 deserving families $100 to make their own Thanksgiving special. Our families also decorated nearly 30 cardboard turkeys that will be donated to Camillus House so homeless residents will know that they were loved by a complete stranger. Finally, collectively the families at the school brought in turkeys and all the trimming for our students to have a collaborative Friendsgiving Feast. Be on the lookout on Facebook for photos as well as in Brightwheel.
Many of you have asked about our annual toy drive. We will be collecting toys for 17 kids from our school and their siblings. If you wish to "adopt" a child for the holidays by having y our child pick out a gift for them, simply remove the gift tag from the front bulletin board. Please wrap the gift and attach the tag to it so we will know which child to give it to. With your kind hearts, we can make lots of kids happy this holiday season. Gifts will be collected for the next month.
We will be open next week for a non-instructional week. Students who stay home with family or go on vacation will not be marked absent if they do not come. If you think you will be keeping your child home Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, please just let us know through Brightwheel so we don't overshop for our school meals. We will be closed on Thursday and Friday so that our staff can enjoy some much deserved family time.
I know many families are vaccinated and some even have boosters by now but we do know that breakthrough COVID cases still exist. I have noticed that many parents are forgetting to wear a mask at pick up or drop off. I am asking that all parents please wear a mask when approaching our door or the playground. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
