Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Superintendents, Lynn Proie, was honored with an Extra Mile Award at the December School Board Meeting. Here are School Board President Valerie Fleisher's remarks:

The Mt. Lebanon School Board instituted the Extra Mile Award to recognize District staff members who demonstrate exceptional service to our students while exhibiting behavior that encourages others to follow their lead. This evening, it is my pleasure to welcome and recognize Ms. Lynn Proie for an Extra Mile Award. Lynn will be retiring at the end of the month after serving 37 years in the District in various departments. Currently, the administrative assistant to the assistant superintendents, Lynn has numerous responsibilities including assisting with new teacher orientation and induction, professional development and continuing education for all staff, student-teacher requests, and teacher conference requests.

An excerpt from the submission for this recognition reads, “(The responsibilities listed) do not even scratch the surface of all of Lynn's duties, which assist staff, students, and families. But Lynn's hard work is not what sets her apart - it is her huge heart and unending kindness. Lynn is generous, optimistic, and always willing to help in any way she can. She extends this kindness to her interactions with all students and staff and is a shining example of the values of the Mt. Lebanon School District.”

An administrator additionally wrote “Lynn is the type of person you want to be around every day. Her smile, kindness, and personality make the work day better. She always goes out of her way to make sure everyone feels welcomed and seen. She is one of the most caring individuals I have ever worked with.”

Mt. Lebanon High School’s “Little Lebo” preschool program is accepting applications for our Spring program which will run from March 11th through May 29th. The children will meet Monday through Thursday from 9:15 am until 10:40 am. This program is an especially great opportunity for children who may not be ready for full-time preschool. Our program offers unique learning experiences in places such as the Wildlife Biology Room, Dance Studio, Percussion Room, the “Mind Den” mindfulness space, and our commercial cafeteria kitchen. Children who have turned three by January 1, 2024, and who will be no older than four years, and six months of age on March 1, 2024 may apply. All children must be fully potty trained. Enrollment is limited to ten children and acceptances are on a first come, first served basis. The total cost is $75.00.
