WORSHIP

Sunday, October 20, 2024

This Week's Message is:

"Heart of a Servant"

Mark 10: 35-45

STAFFING UPDATE

Last Sunday Pastor Heather shared the news that Jessica Korrison has resigned her position as our Children & Youth Ministry Coordinator. She is wanting to go back to full-time work in the hotel management industry and we wish her all the best. She will be missed here, so please wish her well. Her final Sunday with us will be October 27.

We have already posted the job description in many different places – if you would like to forward our Facebook post, please do! And click here for a pdf of the full description. If you have questions or would like to be on the hiring team, please contact Pastor Heather.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR WELCOME TEAM

We always encourage and appreciate volunteers for the Welcome Team to help out with parts of the worship service, such as greeter, welcome table, usher, tellers, coffee server and Communion helpers.

Here is the October Welcome Team schedule

The sheet is on the welcome table to write your name in while you're here or enter in your name from a computer or laptop or contact the office to sign up.

COMMUNION TEAM

What is the Communion Team? It's a team who pick up the communion bread from Metro Market on Saturdays and deliver it to the Church. They also prepare, serve and clean up the elements about once a month. If you are scheduled for a weekend and cannot make it, you message the team and ask to trade Sundays. Everyone is flexible. Join us! Contact Ann Krebs Byrne for a brief training (30 mins)! We really need a sub for Saturday bread pick up!

Here is a link to a sign-up genius form for Communion/Altar Care shifts too

This is intended to be informational only but if it inspires increased giving, the ministries of this church will benefit and can continue to be robust. Thank you!

CONNECTIONS

Adult Ministry

ADULT FAITH FORMATION - AND DINNER!!!!

Starting tonight Wednesday October 16, Pastor Heather begins a new conversation using The Difference Course – a resource from the Church of England’s Reconciliation Project. The aim is to explore what it means to follow Jesus in a complex and divided world. It includes videos, engaging activities, and Bible study. Join us on Wednesdays October 23 (taking Oct. 30 off) and November 6, 13, and 20 at 6:15pm. AND don't forget to come for dinner at 6:00pm and we will eat together while we study!

Tonight the menu is burgers, pasta salad and Greek salad- Thank you to Uriah Reppert.

Please contact the church office if you would like to bring dessert tonight or a future dinner!

ALL SAINTS SUNDAY NOVEMBER 3

In two weeks, we will remember and celebrate all those who have died and gone before us. If there is someone you would like mentioned by name in worship that Sunday, please either put their name on the sheet on the Welcome Table or call the church office.

MEN’S GROUP

Hey guys! Want to get together? We would like to offer a time for the men of our community to gather and be strengthened in their faith. Next meeting is October 19th at 8 am in the Community Room.

WEEKLY PRAYER TEAM

The prayer team meets every Saturday from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m and gathers together to learn, pray and grow in prayer life. The format is however God leads us. We come together to pray for churches, pastors, community partners, and for the needs and special purpose God has for each person in the church both present and future. The doors to the church remain locked due to security at this time of the morning, BUT IF YOU KNOCK ON THE DOOR, we will let you in, as we are watching and listening throughout our time together. Please come any Saturday that may work for you! Plus please let us know if you would like one-on-one prayers!

TRUNK OR TREAT HELP!!!!

We still need help with Trunk or Treat. If you can bring any of the following, please drop them off in the church kitchen by Sunday, October 20: wet wipes, graham crackers, marshmallows, candy, small Halloween trinkets. We also need a few more volunteers. It’s not too late to sign up to have a trunk and pass out candy, and we also need 2 parking lot greeters, an adult to put temporary tattoos on the children, 3-4 people to host a simple game (all supplies provided), and 2-3 people to hand out candy on the Spooky Trail. If you can help, please let Janice Newell (buckyshome6@yahoo.com) or Deb Shepherd-Wundrow (dshepwun@gmail.com) know. Thank you so much!
