Thursday, October 9 – We are attending GLEAM, a light show at Olbrich Gardens. Tickets are $18, and you will need to purchase them ahead of time. OBG | Ticketing. Saturday, November 1 8:00 am to 3:00 pm – We will attend the Greater Things Women's Conference in Sun Prairie. WELCOME SUNDAY FOLLOW UP

It was great to worship together in one service last Sunday - to welcome six new community partners - and to greet first-time visitors! We will continue to offer gift bags to any first-time visitors!

FALL ADULT FAITH FORMATION

Make plans to grow your faith this fall with the following opportunities:

Women's Bible Study meets every Thursday at 9am to study the Book of Revelation with a wonderful video-based study by Jen Wilkin. Come anytime for this exciting conversation about an often misunderstood book.

Wednesday Faith Formation continues tonight at 6pm as we look at the life and teachings of St. Paul. Most of the New Testament has been written by this influential disciple, so there is much to learn about him and his ideas. Dinner will not be provided, but if you'd like to please feel free to bring your own dinner and join us for conversation. Come anytime!

Sunday Faith Formation begins a new class this Sunday October 12 at 11am, with Heather Strand offering insights into living your best faithful life with a class entitled Love Who You Are: Be Your Own BFF. We will dive into the topics of self-worth, mindset, and boundaries. Plan to be there!

WE HAVE A NEW OFFICE MANAGER!

We are so pleased to have had some wonderful interviews last week, and made the offer which was accepted by Sarah Sheffer. Prior to becoming Office Manager, Sarah received a Bachelor’s in Music Education and worked as a Music & Technology Teacher for 7 years before deciding to leave the world of education. Sarah’s connection to New Life actually started around 15 years ago, when her family first started attending this church. She’s gone on multiple mission trips as part of New Life’s youth group, and is excited to be back working with such an incredible faith community!

Sarah lives in De Forest with her husband Brad. When she’s not working, Sarah loves to listen to music, sew cosplays, play video games, and spend time with her friends and family.

Sarah begins her time with us this week so stop by and say HI!

GALLERY PROJECT

You may have noticed the bright lights down the hallway...this is in preparation for our final Sabbatical project: the St. Matthew's New Life Gallery! As we have displayed our Sabbath activity pictures for most of this year, but as soon as the new lighting is finished (these bright LEDs are NOT the final product) we will have a Grand Opening show featuring none other than our very own Gregg Schieve, who also worked hard on making this project a reality. Stay tuned for more!

STAMPING GROUP

On the second Monday of the month, New Life Church hosts a rubber stamping group in the Community Room. We make beautifully designed and crafted greeting cards. The next gathering is Monday, October 13 at 6:30pm in the Community Room. All are welcome to join in this fun evening. Contact Cheryll Steinke to let her know you'll be participating or with any questions.

NEW LIFE KIDS

New Life Kids is back in full swing! Join us 8:50-9:40a Sunday mornings in the Recreation center. This week will will begin to learn about the life of Moses. Ashley is looking for volunteers for this fall. Please reach out to Ashley find out about volunteer opportunities with New Life Kids.

We are also offering youth conversations in the youth classroom at the same time as New Life Kids (8:50-9:40am Sundays). Please talk to Ashley about this as well!

BIBLES FOR KIDS and YOUTH

If your child(ren) did not receive a bible from New Life Church last Fall or they received a children's Bible and are ready for a youth Bible, please reach out to Ashley: youtheducator@newlifelc.com.

CarePortal UPDATE

New Life is thrilled to have met a CarePortal need in September. Through our donation we were able to help a survivor of human trafficking purchase diapers, wipes, and other baby supplies. This recipient also requested an invite to attend church so we are hopeful that we could welcome her to a New Life service soon. Thank you to our CarePortal team for making this possible! If you would like to know more about CarePortal, please contact Nicole Hines.

ST MARK'S FOOD PANTRY

Our congregation continues to generously support St. Mark’s food pantry. Again the back of my SUV was filled with the delivery made the last week of September Donations of shelf stable food and personal hygiene products (laundry pods, toilet paper, toothpaste and brushes, dish soap and body soap/wash) are appreciated. Food items currently requested and in short supply are canned peas and carrots, jam, and hearty soups. Cheryll Steinke, a member of our congregation who volunteers at the pantry, let me know Sunday that supplies of toilet paper and laundry pods are also extremely low. Donations can be placed on the table in the community room. Any paper, plastic and reusable bags can also be donated as that is an ongoing need of the pantry.

SOCIAL PURPOSE FUND

We continue to need your help in order to be able to distribute gift cards to those in need - which totals on average about $1,000 every month! Because of the increased need, if you would be able to give to this fund, please submit checks with "Social Purpose Fund" in the memo or give online to that fund. Thank you! Also, please know that if you are experiencing any financial need (rent/mortgage, utilities, groceries, medical, unemployment/furlough, etc.) you only need to let Pastor Heather know. This information will be kept confidential to her and our financial officers (treasurer and bookkeeper).
