SUPER SALE
WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
We are getting ready to host our annual rummage sale and will need lots of helpers to make it the best ever! The dates of the sale will be Thursday July 25-Saturday July 27, but we have started collecting items. There are signs in the ReCreation Center as to where to put those items - things like clothes (adult and kids), sporting equipment, furniture, and household items. This year however we will not take: TV's mattresses, large appliances, car seats or cribs. Items can be brought in from now until July 17 (this will be a hard stop deadline). We will need MANY helpers to make this the best sale yet! Sign up to volunteer here!!

ST. MARK’S FOOD PANTRY
Our congregation has had an ongoing partnership with St Mark’s food pantry, and they could use our help right now. Pandemic funding has ended as well as several previously available streams of food. In addition, the pantry is seeing increased utilization. They accept donations of shelf-stable food and of personal essentials (toilet paper, hand and dish soap, laundry pods, toothpaste and toothbrushes). Currently, their top 5 needs are:
Breakfast cereal
Canned/dried soup
Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, hot sauce)
Canned fruit
Toilet paper
Donations can be placed on the table located in the Community Room.
Let’s help them stock their shelves!

COME EXPLORE A NEW SOCIAL STATEMENT
We are so excited and privileged to have the Director of the Lutheran Office of Public Policy for Wisconsin, Cindy Crane, with us for two Sundays, July 14 and 21, to discuss a new Social Statement for the ELCA. It’s called “Civic Life and Faith” and speaks to the intersection of church and state. Especially in our current climate, this is a timely discussion! This is still a draft statement, so in addition to discussing it we can also have a hand in forming what it says! Come join us for this discussion on Sundays July 14 and 21 at 11am in the Classroom. If you’d like to read it ahead of time, please click here.

WEEKLY PRAYER TEAM
We meet every Saturday from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. to spend some personal time with God (reading, quiet time in a relaxed state, listening to music, moving around in a peaceful state, etc.- however you personally connect with God). At 7:30 a.m. we come together to pray for churches, pastors, community partners, and for the needs and special purpose God has for each person in the church both present and future. Please come any Saturday this may work for you!

FIELD OF SCREAMS AND TRUNK OR TREATING
Trunk or Treat will be coming up very soon! Just a heads up that, instead of having the afternoon event for the kids and the Field of Screams in the evening, we will have only ONE event this year. We are still planning to do the Trunk or Treat with the bonfire, crafts, games, and snacks, but we will also be adding a “mini scare” geared toward children aged 8-12 in the afternoon. We will need lots of volunteers to make this the best Trunk or Treat in Wisconsin! The date in late October will be finalized soon, but if you would like help, please reach out to Janice Newell or the church office. Thank you!

EXPO HOUSE NEEDS
We were honored and privileged to hear the stories from Tamra and the women living in the new EXPO house. They were also able to stay after worship and talk in more depth about the needs of the house and the women living there.
Here are some ways you can help:
Donations directly to EXPO (https://expowisconsin.org/)
Uber/Lyft gift cards and/or rides (will need to contact Tamra to arrange)
Bikes and/or a car
Carpentry work (need to submit plans for permitting)
Building supplies for shelving
Meals once a month for up to 10 people
Toilet paper, paper towels, Kleenex, cleaning supplies, paper plates
Pay for an exterminator
Get involved in advocacy toward better systems
If you would like to connect directly with Tamra about any of the above, please email her or call/text her. Thank you for your help in making our community a welcoming and better place!

BLACK HISTORY FOR A NEW DAY COURSE THIS FALL
Nehemiah will again be offering their Black History for a New Day course this fall. We’ve had two groups plus several individuals from our New Life community take this course virtually – and all found it to be life changing! Now we have the opportunity to learn this important part of American History IN PERSON at the Fountain of Life Church off of South Park Street. The course consists of nine two-hour sessions; this fall it will run Sept 16 through Nov. 18 (skipping Oct 14). Please consider joining this group study. For further information contact Kathy Michaelis (ksmichaelis@gmail.com) or visit https://nehemiah.org/resources/bhfand/

SOCIAL PURPOSE FUND
New Life continues to distribute much-needed gift cards to those in need - totally on average about $3,000 every month! Because of the increased need, if you would be able to give to this fund, please submit checks with "Social Purpose Fund" in the memo or give online to that fund. Thank you! Also, please know that if you are experiencing any financial need (rent/mortgage, utilities, groceries, medical, unemployment/furlough, etc.) you only need to let Pastor Heather know. This information will be keep confidential to her and our financial officers (treasurer and bookkeeper).
Another way you and your family can help in the community is to support black-owned businesses (click here for a list and other ways you can help). Again, thank you for caring and sharing!
