SHEPHERDS NEEDED
We have a new Team! In order to guide people who are new to our community, we'd like to pair them up with Shepherds - and that's where you come in! The new Shepherd Team has a great group of leaders who will train you to accompany new people, so we're looking for 8-10 individuals or families to be Shepherds. Please let Pastor Heather know if this is something you're interested in. Training will take place early September.

NEW SOCIAL STATEMENT
Thank you so much for joining the Director of the Lutheran Office of Public Policy for Wisconsin, Rev. Cindy Crane, in a vital discussion of a new Social Statement for the ELCA called “Civic Life and Faith” which speaks to the intersection of church and state. In case you weren't able to join us, click here for the statement. And if you would like to reply in order to make your voice known, please reply here. There was also a wonderful video that Pastor Crane shared from our Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton - this is a comment on Christian Nationalism and very well stated. Please watch here!
And please watch for more conversations about these topics coming up in the fall! Book studies and discussions about Christian Nationalism.

ST. MARK'S FOOD PANTRY
Many thanks to all who brought in donations for St Mark’s food pantry in recent weeks. The volunteers at the pantry wanted to extend a huge “thank you” to the congregation for our generosity. In June, St Mark’s pantry served 88 families (ranging from 1 to 9 members/family). Any donations of shelf stable food are always welcome, but they have seen increased requests for ramen noodles and plain pasta (noodles and macaroni) in addition to their top 5 needs of breakfast cereal, soup, condiments, canned fruit and toilet paper. Donations can be placed on the table located in the Community Room. Please continue to help our this wonderful ministry!

BLACK HISTORY FOR A NEW DAY COURSE THIS FALL
Nehemiah will again be offering their Black History for a New Day course this fall. We’ve had two groups plus several individuals from our New Life community take this course virtually – and all found it to be life changing! Now we have the opportunity to learn this important part of American History IN PERSON at the Fountain of Life Church off of South Park Street. The course consists of nine two-hour sessions; this fall it will run Sept 16 through Nov. 18 (skipping Oct 14). Please consider joining this group study. For further information contact Kathy Michaelis (ksmichaelis@gmail.com) or visit https://nehemiah.org/resources/bhfand/

SOCIAL PURPOSE FUND
We continue to need your help in order to be able to distribute gift cards to those in need - which totals on average about $2,000 every month! Because of the increased need, if you would be able to give to this fund, please submit checks with "Social Purpose Fund" in the memo or give online to that fund. Thank you! Also, please know that if you are experiencing any financial need (rent/mortgage, utilities, groceries, medical, unemployment/furlough, etc.) you only need to let Pastor Heather know. This information will be keep confidential to her and our financial officers (treasurer and bookkeeper).
