PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Success stories are key to any business' story. They provide credibility, traction, and excitement. Plus, I don't know of anyone who doesn't like to brag about their business, or the business they work for, and use a success story to prove it!

I remember when I was starting my business, 10-years ago this August. It was early in my website design business' life and I needed some traction, some 'oomph'. Along came a website design contest, in which I submitted my name. It only took a simple email to put my name in for a chance to redesign a high-profile Canadian country musician's website. I gave it no second thought, thinking "there's no chance I'll ever win". I won!! And so became my first client and contract, George Canyon.

Summerland business is full of these kinds of stories. Home grown stories, chalked full of exciting outcomes. In fact, 4-years ago the Chamber ran a Business Excellence Awards process, in which collecting success stories was a key part of determining the winner. I was part of that process and I know these stories exist.

We want to hear your stories! Please take a moment, reach out to myself, a fellow Chamber director, or a staff member. Email us, go for a coffee, or give us a phone call and share a story with us. We want to collect these and create a feature of some sort to celebrate business. We want to celebrate Summerland!

Have you joined the
Summerland Chamber of Commerce, yet?

Chambers of Commerce provide access to valuable resources, discounts, and relationships that help businesses save money and market their products. Joining a Chamber of Commerce can boost sales and significantly improve a local business' visibility and credibility.

Pros of Joining a Chamber of Commerce
Take a minute and consider why a Chamber of Commerce might be a good idea. There are a number of benefits that include:

More Exposure for Your Business
No one is going to know you exist if you don’t put yourself out there. People who are moving into the area or who are looking for something cool to check out in the community look to their Chamber of Commerce to provide suggestions. If you’re on their list, you’ll get free marketing as a result.

Mailing List Access
Your local Chamber of Commerce has a directory with contact information for every business in the network. This list is available not just to members, but also non-members in the local community.

Networking Opportunities
You’re going to mix, mingle, and rub elbows with other members of the professional community at various events. This can lead to opportunities you never imagined.

Grants & Funding
If you’re part of a Chamber of Commerce, you’ll have a community with your best interests at heart. They may even be able to help you find business grants and funding that you otherwise wouldn’t have known existed.

Getting Your Voice Heard
United we stand. By being part of a Chamber, you’re with other like-minded business owners who want to succeed. You can bring concerns to your local government like regulations, taxes, or costs that negatively impact you.

Freebies & Discounts
Overall, Chambers of Commerce can be a ton of fun. They host events and sometimes even offer you promotional gifts or epic raffle prizes. Not only that, but networking might score you some coupons or deals from nearby businesses, whether it’s a tasty restaurant or a carpet cleaning service.

CHAMBER MEMBER BENEFITS
Speed cash flow and create convenience with digital invoicing

In a business environment where efficiency and flexibility are important to smooth functioning of day-to-day operations, digital invoicing can help you create, send and save digital invoices to get paid faster and improve your cash flow.

Our Converge and talech software both have intuitive digital invoicing tools that eliminate the need to mail bills and wait for a check or an online payment in response – and there are no limitations on how many invoices can be sent.

In fact, the entire payment collection cycle is simplified as both solutions allow you to search and track invoices, set automatic email reminders for overdue invoices, and edit, cancel or refund requested payments right from your talech or Converge dashboard.
