Warriors of the Week
Each week through this year we will recognize several of our students through our "Warrior of the Week" award. Students receive this award for displaying effort that goes above-and-beyond our expectations - reflecting their drive to achieve personal and academic growth. This week's Warriors of the Week are:

6th - Julia G. - Julia continues to remain focused on all of her tasks at hand. Julia stops to spend time on her work to ensure that it is done with quality. She is a technology expert and is willing to help others once her work is done. She is kind and patient when another student who doesn't understand asks for help.

7th - Marty H. - Marty is kind and helpful to all that he meets. He is willing to lend a hand to those in need, whether it's a fellow student or teacher. His hard work and great attitude make him a wonderful role model.

8th-  David K - David is a polite and courteous young man. He assists his peers without prompt, volunteers in class, and is conscientious about his own work.

6th Grade Science
The 6th graders have been very busy in science class. Making observations first, followed by inferring is an important part in all aspects of science. Our mystery activities are helping us to learn how to make careful observations and then come up with explanations for hose these mysteries work. Finally, we need to justify our explanations with evidence.
7th Grade Science
7th Grade science students have been practicing their inquiry skills during our "Science Boot Camp" project. We have been perfecting our techniques and are ready to start the year strong!
8th Grade Science
This week in science, we finished up our preparation for the science fair with one final lab on how to accurately measure liquid volume. Next week the students will finish picking out the topics they wish to investigate and work on forming their hypothesis. By the end of the week we will bring our exploration into matter.
MMS Teacher Office Hours
Every Friday from 7:45 am - 8:20 am ALL teachers will be available for academic assistance. Students can sign up with any teacher to get the help they need. Please encourage your child to take advantage of this opportunity!

Great job to all 8th graders who showed up for Office Hours on Friday. Everyone who came to take an assessment PASSED!! Thanks for your hard work and dedication!

Drop-off and Dismissal
There have been reports made of multiple lanes of traffic stopped on W.213th at dismissal.
Curbside traffic is permitted to stop, but other lanes should move freely. A reminder that W.213th is a two-way street and stopping will cause a backup in traffic.  Thank you to our Middle School parents for continued effort to make drop-off and dismissal as safe as possible for our students.

Appointments - Early Departure
When collecting your student for an appointment during the school day, you will need to collect them at the High School main office.  Students should report to Mrs Lockwood (Attendance Secretary) to sign out for the day, and then will wait in the main office for their parents.
Fairview Park PTA Council Reflections Art Program
The Ohio PTA, through National PTA, holds an annual cultural arts program, Reflections. Children in preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to create and submit original works of art in six areas: literature, visual arts, photography, dance choreography, film production and music composition. The Reflections program allows PTAs throughout the state to recognize children for their creativity as they reflect on the yearly theme. Teachers, parents, children and community can get involved in enhancing arts education though the Reflections program. The Reflections Program is one of the best examples of the PTA's ability to bring out the best in our youth. PTA strongly supports education in the arts. It is about creating educational excitement and involvement within our schools between parents, teachers and o ur kids.

Students can enter Reflections® in the following grade divisions - Primary: preschool-grade 2, Intermediate: grades 3-5, Middle/Junior: grades 6-8 and Senior: grades 9-12. They may submit works in any of the six arts areas: Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual arts, Dance Choreography, and Film Production. Special Artists can submit entries in any category. Our Reflections program begins at the local level, advances to PTA Council level, then to State for judging. The State winners of the Award of Excellence are then advanced to National PTA.

This year's theme is " Heroes Around Me." All students that wish to participate in the Reflections Art Program need to fill out the entry form and return it along with their original artwork to their school office by November 1, 2018. All participants will be invited to an Art Show to view the masterpieces created in January. Questions can be emailed to Angie Cause at angiekleincause@yahoo.com. Good luck!
