Warriors of the Week
Each week through this year we will recognize several of our students through our "Warrior of the Week" award. Students receive this award for displaying effort that goes above-and-beyond our expectations - reflecting their drive to achieve personal and academic growth.

This week's Warriors of the Week are:

Owen A.
Owen is a true Warrior! He has been attending office hours and working hard during SDL time, even  when there are distractions. Owen is never afraid to ask for help and he helps his peers when they need. Finally, Owen always has a smile on his face and is kind to every person he encounters.

Sophia G.
Sophie has been a diligent worker all year and is always willing to help peers and staff. She brings a positive attitude to the classroom and to her extracurriculars. Sophie's work is done with quality effort and she goes the extra mile on her projects. She is active in Builder's Club, swimming, volleyball and Synchronettes. Way to go Sophie!

Sarah W.
Sarah could have been student of the week any number of times this year. She always puts the needs of others ahead of her own. Beyond her straight A average and prodigious output of stunning visual and literary art, she found the time to convert a rare photograph of Sherwood Anderson into a laptop sticker for her OA teacher.
From the Office
**OST Movie Reward**
The Ohio State Testing reward movie (awarded by testing proctors based on testing habits), chosen by popular vote is Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (PG). The movie will be shown on Thursday, May 2 at 12:20 PM in the FHS auditorium. Students will report to their 6th period class for attendance purposes, and if they are on the list for the movie, they will then be excused to the auditorium.

The new MS office is now OPEN, however, we are going to continue to have parents pick-up and drop-off their children as we have been all year. If your child is leaving school early or arriving late, you will continue to sign them out/in in the high school office. There will be many construction vehicles on Campus Drive as the project continues. For the safety of you and your children, as well as to avoid any confusion at this late date in the school year, we will continue to operate as we have all year - pick up and drop off will remain along West 213, through the main parking lot. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Habits of Success
Habits of Success are the social and emotional skills that enable students to be successful at both academic and non-academic pursuits. This is the framework we use in our teaching / mentoring with students.  In the coming weeks, we will highlight examples of each of these components so that families can promote similar habits at home.
Resilience  is the positive adaptation during or following exposure to adversities that have the potential to harm development: (a) developing well in the context of high cumulative risk for developmental problems (beating the odds, better than predicted development), (b) functioning well under currently-adverse conditions (stress-resistance, coping), and (c) recovery to normal functioning after catastrophic adversity *bouncing back, self-righting) or severe deprivation (normalization).

Agency can be defined as a student's individual decision-making and autonomous actions.

Academic Tenacity  can be defined as the beliefs and skills that allow students to look beyond short-term concerns to longer-term or higher-order goals, and withstand challenges and setbacks to persevere toward these goals.

Students started off the week with a brand new set of classrooms, routes to classes and resource rooms, and have embraced it with open arms. They have shown resiliency by welcoming the changes happening all over the building this year.

Students have agency over their decisions and priorities, based on the limited amount of time we have left in the school year. With guidance from mentors, and morning office hours, students have a variety of pathways to accomplish their goals.

The end of the school year is a time in which the academic tenacity of students is put to the test. Students are now looking at what they need to accomplish prior to the end of the year in order to make a plan to be successful. 8th grade students are preparing exit interviews for a panel of staff to showcase their work here at LFM.
Personalized Learning Platform
The school year is nearly over! As a reminder, there is no summer school this year, so students must complete their work by the end of the 4th quarter. The last day of school is Thursday, May 23.
First Day School Supplies
Tickets are $5 at the door. This is our annual music department fundraiser and cost of admission goes to support these talented musicians. Students should arrive 30 minutes prior to their performance time. Drinks and some snacks will be available for purchase in cafeteria throughout the day, please volunteer when your child is not performing so all parents get to hear their children perform.

Hi Fairview Park Families!

I know as we near the end of the school year, many students (and parents) are feeling anxious about the next school year especially when there is a transition to a new school!
While I hope you are finding the FACE page (click the box on the district website that says "FACE Resources."), full of valuable information, I hope the families that will have a transition next year ... going into kindergarten, going into middle school and going into high school will check out the TRANSITION information that I have provided.

As always, if I can help with anything to help you become an engaged Fairview Park Family, please let me know!
