The Book of Job asks some of life's hardest questions: Why do good people suffer? Where is God in our pain? How do we hold on to faith when life doesn't make sense?

Job is not an easy book, because life is not always easy.

Together, we'll journey through this powerful story, wrestle with difficult questions, and discover how God's presence meets us even in seasons of suffering, doubt, and uncertainty.

Rev. Dr. Chandran Paul Martin serves as the ELCA Regional Representative for churches in Asia and the Pacific, with primary responsibilities including health care, development, disaster response, and sustainable community-based development ministries with the ELCA companions in the region. We hope you'll join us to learn more about how First Lutheran supports his global outreach!

We're also looking for volunteers to help run the game stations during the event. Join us in creating a fun, welcoming evening for all ages as we celebrate the start of a new ministry year!

Sam Maier grew up at First Lutheran and recently completed his third year at Luther Seminary in St. Paul preparing for pastoral ministry. With one class and his internship year remaining, Sam is entering the final stage of seminary. In August, he and his wife, Laura, will move to Woodstock, Georgia, where Sam will serve his internship at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

We give thanks for all the ways Sam has enriched our faith community, and for all the ways this congregation has supported Sam throughout the years. Please join us in praying for Sam and Laura as they begin this exciting new chapter.
