Homestyle Judaism

Rabbi Henkin will be teaching weekly classes on a monthly theme in the friendly atmosphere of people's homes.  This month's theme is Building Bridges: Learning from Our Neighbors

Rabbis of the Mishnah Class

Join us as we begin a pairing program to match young families with grandparents without local grandchildren to be each other's local family.  Please let us know if you’d like to participate and we’ll pair you up at our kickoff event on Sunday, March 3rd at 12:30pm with a bagel brunch. After that, the level of engagement is up to you! Perhaps you’ll enjoy an occasional meal together, invite each other to your “grandparents’ day” or other special events; you and your adopted local family will decide!   If you're interested in participating as either a young family or grandparents, please contact either the AA office at 912-352-4737, or Tova Tolman at  tovatolman@gmail.com .  We hope to see you on Sunday March 3 rd !

Sharing Our Stories

To help commemorate Yom Hashoah coming up in May, to honor the memory of those who perished in the Holocaust, and to teach about it, the Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs (FJMC) is offering opportunities for you to share your family's stories. Children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of survivors as well as those whose families immigrated before the Holocaust but who have family who did not survive are invited to write or make a video about what the Holocaust means to them. Family heirlooms may also be included. Stories and videos may be posted to the FJMC's Yellow Candle Facebook page with the hashtags #yellowcandle #neveragain #and #fjmc_hq.  You can also email your thoughts to  info@yellowcandles.org   and they will post it.  Please submit before May 2nd Yom HaShoah Yellow candle for sale at the gift shop. Please contact the office for more information.

Talmud Torah K'Neged Kulam -  Torah Study for Everyone   1.    Food for the Soul   (Wednesday mornings, after minyan and breakfast, hosted by Ron Ginsberg):  Come for breakfast, stay for a discussion of Jewish issues in modern life.   2.  Rabbinic Literature Study Group  (Thursday afternoons, 2:00-3:15 pm): Take a look into the rabbinic mind and how the rabbis interpret the Torah in this weekly class. 3.   Skeptics Study Group  (second Thursday of every month, 12 noon, hosted by Michael Konter): This group is for all of those who want to ask difficult questions about Judaism and/or seeking Jewish answers to the questions they have. Our next meeting will be  Thursday, February 14th .
