Worship

Welcome Pastor Satya and Family

Last Sunday, July 5, we joyfully welcomed Pastor Satya and her family to Christ United Methodist Church as she led her first worship service with us. This special day marks more than the beginning of a new pastoral appointment—it marks the start of a shared journey in ministry. As United Methodists, we celebrate pastoral transitions as opportunities for God to bring together a pastor and congregation for a common purpose and mission.

We have been praying for Pastor Satya long before her arrival and are grateful for her willingness to answer God's call to serve among us. While we look forward to getting to know one another in the months ahead, we begin this new chapter united by our faith in Jesus Christ and our commitment to sharing His love with our community.

As a church family, we pledge to support Pastor Satya through our prayers, encouragement, presence, gifts, and service. Together, we look forward to growing in faith and ministry as we seek God's guidance for the future of our church.

Please continue to keep Pastor Satya and her family in your prayers as they settle into our congregation and community. Pastor Satya, welcome to your new church home!

We invite you to join our worship in person on Sunday morning at 10 a.m.

You can watch the live-streamed service at home as well via the church website or Youtube channel.

Click here to sign in your attendance on the website. If you have joys or concerns to share, please submit them with your attendance record. It's important for us to know you were with us and stay connected in prayer.

A Note from the Trustees

These are exciting times. These are stress full times. One pastor is moving out. Another is moving in. Christ UMC can be thankful that we have Karen Sersen, Alexa Alm, Gary Gruebnau and Robin Deak to fill our pulpit during this time.

I am grateful for all of the volunteers who worked so hard putting in hours of time to prepare our parsonage for Pastor Satya and her family. Our parsonage was built in 1993 when our church purchased it new. This is a brief description for those who have never seen it. It is two stories with a full basement and a 2-car garage setting on a large corner lot in a very nice quite neighborhood in Crystal Lake. It has 5 bedrooms, 3½ bathrooms, dining room, large kitchen, a great room and a loft. Off the kitchen is a large deck and a wooden fenced in backyard. Part of the basement has been portioned with closet spaces for our church storage.

Over the years the trustees have done a wonderful job of doing whatever was needed. It was now time to do some updating. On May 11, the trustees started its work. Joe Greenwood spray painted every room with Tom Letterle’s and Eric Linner’s help. Remember seeing the picture of them in their hazmat suits and masks. All of the windows had to be covered with plastic. Woodwork was covered with tape and doors removed. When finished it all had to be replaced. Mike Mullen had to patch some wallboard. While that was being done, Mindy Zeppo, Peggy Literski and Elena Agabin selected the new carpet. The kitchen appliances were aging out, so they ordered a refrigerator, stove and microwave. As well as blinds for the 11 windows. When the painting was done, Mindy, her husband Joe and Ruby,

Peggy and Doug installed the blinds. Mindy, Ruby and Joe also power washed the deck so it can be resealed. We were still working mopping floors and getting last minute things done on Monday afternoon the 15th when Pastor Satya, Solomon and the girls arrived with the movers to bring in their furniture. There is still work to do outside – painting the deck, repairing the fence, replacing the mailbox at the street and replace the front storm door. And the garage is still full of a lot of junk to be disposed of.

I am sure that I missed some names. But we are thankful that we have

some wonderful volunteers who put in untold hours.

Algonquin Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry is seeking valuable volunteers. The food pantry was established in 2000 to meet the growing needs of the underserved. Last year we served 12,105 clients and distributed 287,596 pounds of

food. Our gardens yielded 2,844 pounds of vegetables, herbs, fruits, & flowers. Of which, all was distributed freely. As our growing season approaches, we need volunteers to help feed our clients. Our hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. both outside and in the pantry. The work varies from day to say. We are located on Pyott Road. To contact us visit alithfoodpantry.org and scroll to the bottom. Fill in the contact information and in the message section type “volunteer gardens” or “volunteer other” and submit. You’ll be contacted within a few days. For more info please contact Algonquin/LITH Food Pantry at (847) 854-1904.

Please talk to the Sound Team if you have difficulty hearing during the worship service. We have hearing devices available for you, and if you're already using a hearing aid with a Bluetooth function, we can make adjustments for you as well.

Stop by the sound booth to get assistance!

Are you ready for a clean out?

We have a new addition in our parking lot - at the Northeast corner across from the bank. You can drop off gently used soft items. Please see list below. If it is full, do not leave your items outside but donate them at another time. So far we have received $712.45. All donations will go to the mission fund. Thank you!
