JUST Update

In 2019, AA became one of 22 founding communities of JUST (Justice Unites Savannah Together). JUST is an independent, non-profit organization whose purpose is to build a coalition through which people of faith can hold the local systems accountable for fair policies and practices and fair resource allocation related to education, housing, health care, jobs, transportation, etc.

Within the last year, JUST advocated for the city of Savannah to invest federal funds into its affordable housing trust fund to address housing issues in the city, winning an unprecedented $7 million into the fund. In addition to making sure that money is being used to build long-term affordable housing, JUST is also working on the bail and bond system to keep our community safe without keeping the poor in the criminal justice system unnecessarily.

We will be having an informal informational meeting on Thursday, March 24 at 6:30 pm at AA.  We hope you'll join us! Please contact Rabbi Henkin for more information. You can also visit justsav.org for more information.
