Dear CUMC friends,
Greetings!
In the letter to the Thessalonians, Paul tells his friends that they have been chosen to be examples to others (1 Thessalonians 1:1-10).
“Chosenness is about ripples. Like any gift of the Spirit, it isn’t given primarily for you, for the one receiving it. You are chosen to be an influence, to be an example. Many wonder what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ in today's crazy world. They figure it out by looking to you, to your community, to the witness that you give in word and deed, in mission and in service”. (Dr. Weber).
My dear beloved friend in Christ, You too are chosen by God and called by your name; YOU are chosen to be here at CUMC for a purpose, to use your different talents and spiritual gifts within and beyond Algonquin. And you have already proven it by your labor of love; and living as witnesses showing others how to love and live like Jesus.
As we reflect on Paul’s letter to the Church in Thessalonica, let us also look back on our faith journey. When and how has God called you? Can you recall a special moment when you truly felt chosen, loved and embraced by our Lord Jesus? May these memories remind us that God’s calling is personal, His love is unconditional and His choice of us is a gift of grace. Let us continue to live as His chosen people, sharing His love and faith with others.
See you this Sunday!
Peace and Blessings
Pastor Satya.

Sharing Faith Stories
As the Church around the world navigates changing times and an uncertain future, how might we nurture renewal in our worship and spiritual lives? Cultivating the practice of Sharing Faith stories/Testimonies can be a powerful catalyst for renewal. Stories of how we see God at work in our lives and communities. When we share these stories, we encourage one another, strengthen our faith, and celebrate God’s faithfulness. Together, as the Body of Christ, we can discover renewed hope and become a more vibrant presence within and beyond our communities.
(This is also part of my Doctor of Ministry Thesis Project, in which I began working with the earlier church and I wish to continue with you at Christ UMC).
Plan: Beginning the week of October 11 and continuing through the Thanksgiving season and beyond, we will invite one volunteer each week to share their faith story during worship.
I encourage you to prayerfully consider participating and signing up when the sign-up sheet is available. Your story may encourage and inspire someone else!
You may consider the following focal points in your story:
1. Who taught you about faith? (Was it at home, from your parents/grandparents, or through Sunday school)?
2. How is your faith in Christ nurtured on a daily basis to give hope?(reading Bible, meditating, personal prayer life, attending church).
3.What wonderful things has God done or is doing in your life (testimony part)?
4. How has Christ UMC been inspiring you or nurturing your faith?
Keeping the worship time in mind, let us limit our sharing to under 5 minutes.
Hope you can volunteer to share your story. If it is more convenient for you to record your message rather than speaking in front of people at church, you are very welcome to submit a short video or audio recording of your testimony or story.
We can talk more in person if you have questions or need guidance.
Thank you.
Pastor Satya.

This Advent Season, we will be reading Prepare the Way for the Lord: Advent and the Message of John the Baptist, by Adam Hamilton. The study will explore the Advent themes of John’s life and ministry, and how John calls all followers of Jesus to prepare our hearts for his coming.
All are welcome to join the Wednesday Spirituality Group for the upcoming Advent Study on Wednesday, Nov 11 & 18 and December 2 at 10 a.m.
The Thursday Women's Bible Study Group will also do the same study beginning Nov 19 at 10 a.m. Please let Nisha know if you would like to order the book.

This rainbow appeared over my house in Huntley this morning as we were leaving for my scheduled heart procedure. I viewed it as a good omen, which It was, as my 3 hour procedure was successful and I was released late this afternoon. My daughter from Woodstock is here to help out and making dinner.
I am blessed and thank God for all my many blessings and for you and friends at Christ UMC.Thank you for your prayers and support as I recover quietly for the next week.
Peace and Blessings,
Dan Holtz

We never pray alone but together as a community. We have a prayer chain, a small group of those who pray for submitted requests throughout the week. Let us pray for our church family, friends, neighbors, and our nation. Let’s draw the circle wider. Contact the pastor to join.
If you would like to keep your prayer request in beyond 2 weeks, we would appreciate if you contact the office with an update.
