Dear CUMC family,
All Saints Sunday is one of the standalone worship services in the life of a church.
On this day, we remember those saints who made their journey into eternity and give thanks to God for this day as it invites us to bear witness to our faith.
This Sunday we are going to reflect on the many expressions of witness that bears meaning to All Saints Sunday.
One, we bear witness is to see; and the other, we bear witness by telling what we have seen.
On this day, perhaps, we would tell the stories of those who have gone before, bearing witness to their lives and their influence on the community of faith. At other times, we might tell our own stories to bring hope to someone struggling with decisions. Hence, we are going to bear witness to the work of the gospel by sharing our life with others.
Paul asks the Thessalonians to remember the shared ministry they had while he was with them. Paul is talking about the holistic witness, the witness of our words and our life to the work of God among us. So, as we prepare for All Saints Day, let us ponder on these witnessing questions.
“What is the legacy of past saints that your church still witnesses in your midst? What does the witness of your church sound, smell, and taste like in your community? What stories shaped your witness in the past and today? What witness do you want to shape your future? What does your congregation need to witness today? Where are people hurting and struggling in your community?
Paul’s witness to the Thessalonians allows us to exercise both parts of witness—noticing and proclaiming, paying attention and sharing the story”(Discipleship ministries).
By the way, All Saints Sunday was John Wesley’s favorite day and it is also mine. I will share how my culture in India celebrates All saints Sunday. So, tune in!
Many Blessings
Pastor Satya.

Sharing Faith Stories
As the Church around the world navigates changing times and an uncertain future, how might we nurture renewal in our worship and spiritual lives? Cultivating the practice of Sharing Faith stories/Testimonies can be a powerful catalyst for renewal. Stories of how we see God at work in our lives and communities. When we share these stories, we encourage one another, strengthen our faith, and celebrate God’s faithfulness. Together, as the Body of Christ, we can discover renewed hope and become a more vibrant presence within and beyond our communities.
(This is also part of my Doctor of Ministry Thesis Project, in which I began working with the earlier church and I wish to continue with you at Christ UMC).
Plan: Beginning the week of October 11 and continuing through the Thanksgiving season and beyond, we will invite one volunteer each week to share their faith story during worship.
I encourage you to prayerfully consider participating and signing up when the sign-up sheet is available. Your story may encourage and inspire someone else!
You may consider the following focal points in your story:
1. Who taught you about faith? (Was it at home, from your parents/grandparents, or through Sunday school)?
2. How is your faith in Christ nurtured on a daily basis to give hope?(reading Bible, meditating, personal prayer life, attending church).
3.What wonderful things has God done or is doing in your life (testimony part)?
4. How has Christ UMC been inspiring you or nurturing your faith?
Keeping the worship time in mind, let us limit our sharing to under 5 minutes.
Hope you can volunteer to share your story. If it is more convenient for you to record your message rather than speaking in front of people at church, you are very welcome to submit a short video or audio recording of your testimony or story.
We can talk more in person if you have questions or need guidance.
Thank you.
Pastor Satya.

ADVENT STUDY
For centuries, Christians have turned to the story and message of John the Baptist in the weeks leading up to Christmas. This Advent Season, we will be reading Prepare the Way for the Lord: Advent and the Message of John the Baptist, by Adam Hamilton. The study will explore the Advent themes of John’s life and ministry, and how John calls all followers of Jesus to prepare our hearts for his coming.
All are welcome to join the Wednesday Spirituality Group for the upcoming Advent Study on Wednesday, Nov 11 & 18 and December 2 & 9 at 10 a.m.
The Thursday Women's Bible Study Group will also do the same study beginning Nov 19 at 10 a.m. Please let Nisha know if you would like to order the book.

We never pray alone but together as a community. We have a prayer chain, a small group of those who pray for submitted requests throughout the week. Let us pray for our church family, friends, neighbors, and our nation. Let’s draw the circle wider. Contact the pastor to join.
If you would like to keep your prayer request in beyond 2 weeks, we would appreciate if you contact the office with an update.
