Happening This Week

"Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice"

~John 18:37

This week in worship, we will confront a some powerful episodes from the Gospels, in which Jesus warned of coming destruction and confronted the one who had power to take his life. Unfortunately, many have read such accounts and applied them poorly to our own time or presumed the events are somehow acceptable and born from God's will. We must recognize it as a much better word than that, a revealing of the truth about ourselves and our worst tendencies as people. Our good shepherd has shown us the way of love, of peace, of resurrection, and of confident in his presence among us. We must listen to him, and resist the crowded ways of the world. Please join us for this time of worship. All are welcome.

Live Stream Worship

Our worship services are available via YouTube for those who wish to join that way. Click the image above shortly before the service begin to join in 10:15 AM on Sunday or anytime afterward. DVD copies of the services are also available.

2024 ADVENT DEVOTIONAL "Sing Gloria!" by Laura Stone

Advent devotional books are available for pick up in the gathering area. Please take one per household and let it guide you this Advent Season.

The season of Advent takes us through an ancient story that connects us with what is universal across time, even our own. We read words from thousands of years ago and we hear in them our own stories. We sing songs from decades, even centuries ago, and they vibrate the deepest and holiest parts of ourselves right now. Join in this journey through the old scriptures, the old songs, and find something new.

CONTACTING THE PASTOR

Pastor Joel Gibbel can be reached in the church office most weekdays from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Some afternoons and evenings may be set aside for visiting those in need, for meetings, and for other pastoral duties. Pastor Joel is also available for pastoral counseling by appointment.

If you need to reach the pastor outside of office hours, his mobile number is

(717) 271-4888. You can also email him at pastor@yorkfirst.org. Note that laws prevent hospitals from contacting a pastor without your permission when you are admitted, so you will need to contact the church if you desire a visit or to request prayer.
