Called to a New Vision...

Recalling God's Good News According to Jesus

This week in worship, we will conclude our series following the "Let Our Joys Be Known" curriculum - celebrating prominent themes and core convictions of our church, past and present. We'll encounter the call to "a new vision" (which is really a very old vision) for reconciliation and justice that proceeds from the Spirit of God through Christ Jesus. We'll consider, and celebrate, the inaugural message that Jesus gave in his hometown at the start of his ministry. Perhaps it will come as "new" to some that Jesus' message is much broader than spiritual salvation - it is a call for God's restoration of all things, beginning with the poor, the outcast, and the oppressed. So may it be for our church, attentive to the fullness of God's desires and care.

Come and gather with us as we worship together this Sunday. Warmly invite someone new to join us for our service. Expect much singing and participation this week especially. Let our joys be known!

Live Stream Worship
Although most of us gather in person, our worship services are available via YouTube for those who wish to join that way. Click the link below shortly before the service begins at 10:30 AM on Sunday to join with us in worship.
The video will be available to view after the worship hour in case you miss the 10:30 AM time or wish to watch it again. DVD copies of the services are available in the church lounge any weekday, in case you are not able to view online.

If you enjoy singing, please consider joining the choir for this season of music and fellowship. Rehearsals are on Thursdays at 7:30 PM in the sanctuary. We will be singing a mix of traditional anthems as well as contemporary pieces and will be looking forward to an Easter cantata. If you have any questions, please reach out to Rebecca Wolf, [email protected].

Also beginning this year in September, we will begin bell choir!! This is an opportunity for those who enjoy music. You do NOT need to read music!! John Gibble will be directing this group and between John and Rebecca, you will have plenty of education and support to play this beautiful instrument. We look forward to having new members, including youth!!! Please let John or Rebecca know if you are interested so they can communicate with you when the schedule comes out.

I look forward to working with all of you while providing music ministry at First CoB.

Since 2011 our Witness Team has sponsored the Cash for Causes program by selling Giant & Weis gift cards. The church receives 5% of sales to support various ministries. For 2022 the gift card sales will support The Lehman Center (Children’s Aid Society), New Community Project, Carlisle Truck Stop Ministry, and LifePath Christian Ministries (formerly York Rescue Mission). You may purchase the cards in amounts of $100, $50, $25, or $10. The cards make great gifts, especially at holidays. Consider donating cards to the Food Pantry or using them yourself any time you shop at Giant or Weis.

I plan to attend our in-person worship services and will have the gift cards available
for your purchase before or after the service.  However, if you will not be attending our in-person worship services, I will continue to send cards in the mail if you want to support this outreach ministry. Send your check to Becky Wenger, 3011 Bedford Pl, York, PA 17408. The Giant or Weis cards will be mailed to you. Make your check out to York First Church.

Thank you for supporting this program - Becky Wenger, Cash for Causes representative

Concerning the COVID-19 pandemic and church operations:

We recommend that you exercise special precaution and be vigilant for any symptoms that you might experience. If you do have any, we strongly encourage you to contact your physician and take a covid test. The recent church policy has been that face coverings for our gatherings are optional for all attendees. We will continue to gather in person to worship fully. Please be aware of those around you that are most vulnerable to disease and operate out of regard for the well-being of all.

Worship will be live streamed on our YouTube channel and recorded each Sunday morning at 10:30 AM indefinitely for those who are unable to be present, but it is not intended to replace physical attendance long-term.

Thank you all for understanding and for your faithful participation in our life together. Please do your part to prevent the spread of contagious disease as a holy expression of loving our neighbors as ourselves.
