"Mustard Seed" Offering Project June 7
“‘For it is as if a man, going on a journey, summoned his slaves and entrusted his property to them; to one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one…’” Matthew 25:14–15
Jesus reminds us in the Parable of the Talents that God gives each of us gifts, abilities, passions, and opportunities, and even what seems small can become something life-changing when placed in God’s hands. One small seed. One small act of faith. One small step outside our comfort zone can make a far bigger impact than we ever imagined.
As part of our June 7 message and our summer together, we are excited to begin something called the Mustard Seed Project.
This project is rooted in the belief that God can take even the tiniest offering and grow it into something beautiful and meaningful. Every participant (individual or family) will receive $5 of “seed money.” We invite you to use one of your gifts or talents to help that seed grow. Maybe you bake cookies or brownies. Maybe you paint, babysit, do photography, mow lawns, make crafts, tutor, sing, organize, or have another creative idea entirely. Whatever your gift may be, use it boldly and see what God can do through you.
At the end of the summer, on Welcome Back Sunday, participants will return the original $5 along with whatever was raised to support our youth ministries, including our Senior High youth attending National Youth Conference and our Junior High youth attending FaithX.
But this project is about far more than money.
It is about faith. It is about trust. It is about courage. It is about discovering that the Holy Spirit can work through ordinary people doing ordinary things with extraordinary love.
One small change really can make a big impact.
If you have never seen the movie Pay It Forward, I encourage you to watch it. It is an inspiring story about a young boy who begins to change the world, one simple act of kindness at a time. That is exactly the kind of spirit we hope this project will spark. Small acts matter. Tiny seeds matter. What may seem insignificant to us can become something life-giving for someone else.
Throughout the summer, we will also invite participants to share testimonies: What challenged you? What surprised you? Where did you see God moving? How did your faith grow?
So don’t miss this opportunity to jump in and be part of something exciting. Take a chance. Try something new. Trust God with your gifts. Watch what happens when you allow the Holy Spirit to move through you.
The possibilities are endless.
You may be surprised by what God can do through one small seed, one willing heart, and one simple “yes.”
We cannot wait to celebrate this journey with you, hear your stories, and see the amazing ways God will work through our church family this summer. Just wait and see what God will do!
