Happening This Week

This Sunday we will continue a series in worship on the book of Revelation, one which will take us through most of October. The message is not about "end times" but about the church's faithfulness to Christ, told through a unique type of writing that we have received. We'll look closely at the praises and warnings that Christ offered to the churches when Revelation was written, hoping to understand how their emphasis might inform us still today. The need to listen and follow our Lord is central to what the book speaks.

Please plan to attend the Love Feast service Sunday afternoon beginning at 4:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall. It will include a fellowship meal, feet washing, and communion (as always). Several youth will be assisting with the program as we explore the reasons for each part of the service, in a very educational and explanatory tone, reminding us all how and why we observe the Love Feast, being reminded of its meaning for us all. Child care will be provided.

We look forward to our time together this Sunday. As usual, all are welcome!

**Note that Congregational Forum is next Sunday October 8. Please pick up booklets and reports in the Gathering Area this Sunday and review them in advance. ALL MEMBERS should plan to attend.

Our worship services are available via YouTube for those who wish to join that way. Click the link above to join us before 10:30 AM Sunday or anytime afterward. DVD copies of the services are also available.

NOTES FROM THE TREASURER………………….

As we approach the last quarter of 2023, the Finance and Leadership Teams are working on the budget for 2024. In order to determine a level of income for next year, we hope to have a good estimate of this year’s total giving. To help us in this process, please consider catching up on your offering, giving a little extra, or making your year-end gifts early! If you plan to schedule a Required Minimum Distribution, you may do that now. The distribution can be made any time before December 31.

If you use Online Giving, now is a good time to check your account, including your profile and your designated gift type and amount.

New church members and friends who wish to have envelopes for the remainder of this year, please contact Roy Rollman.

Stewardship is an important part of being a member of First Church of the Brethren. We all work together with our time, talent and treasure to do great things!
