THIS SUNDAY IN WORSHIP

January 11, 2026

SCRIPTURE LESSONS:

Isaiah 42:1-9, Matthew 3:13-17

MESSAGE:

“I, the Lord, Have Called You”

Happening This Week

Affirming God's Call

This Sunday in worship, our service will focus on the theme of God's call upon Christ's followers to service in ministry. Our time together will include consecration of church leadership, commissioning of deacons, receiving a new member, and bread and cup communion, in addition to a message recalling Jesus' baptism and how God affirmed the start of his public ministry. We'll be reminded that all we all have gifts and ways to serve, and that some of us, at particular times in our lives, may be called to unique service and even leadership.

Our church is tremendously grateful for many among us who say "yes" to the invitation to serve, and we intend for this week's worship to be especially prayerful and empowering for all who are involved. Please join us as we gather together and receive from the Lord's table. All are welcome.

Youth Retreat

This Friday and Saturday, our church is hosting a youth retreat with youth and advisors from nine Church of the Brethren congregations. Please be in prayer for this special time of ministry, service, and relationship-building that we are pleased to be offering. Special thanks to Dave Witkovsky for his leadership and to all who are assisting with meal preparation. We expect nearly 70 attendees.

Lehman Center "Wish List"

Items for donation to the Lehman Center are being collected in the basket in the Gathering Area. Due to changes in the food pantry operations, these must be collected separately from food pantry supplies.

Here are some items that are needed at

Lehman Center:

Instant pudding (chocolate, banana)

Instant jello (orange, blue, green, grape, cherry)

Can fruit (pears, pineapples, fruit cocktail)

Applesauce (individual or jar)

Can vegetables (lima beans, peas, green beans)

Baby food - all stages

Baby snacks

Patricia Carey is the Witness Team appointment for the Cash for Causes program. Please see Patricia before or after worship to purchase your Giant or Weis gift cards. Patricia will be at the table under the bulletin board in the Gathering Space.

You may purchase the cards in amounts of $100, $50, $25, or $10. The cards make great gifts, especially at holidays. Consider donating cards to the Food Pantry or using them yourself any time you shop at Giant or Weis.

Since 2011, through the Cash for Causes program, the church has received 5% of sales to support various COB and local ministries. In 2024 the gift card sales supported The Lehman Center, New Community Project and the Carlisle Truck Stop Ministry with each receiving $233.08. For 2025, the Witness Team will review past giving and determine which agencies we will support this year.
