HYMN SING/STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL
Saturday, June 15, 2024 6-8 p.m.
Some of you may remember the old commercial showing 2 people bumping into each other, one with a chocolate Hershey bar and one with a jar of peanut butter. The candy accidently falls into the jar and voila! A Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup is born!
That’s sort of what happened between the Worship Team and the Hospitality and Fellowship (H & F) Team recently and you all will benefit from our brainstorming and collaborative efforts! The Worship Team would like to hold a few old-fashioned hymn sings (outdoor if weather permits) this summer to help us stay connected with each other in a fun and casual way – we know that music is such a connector! But so is food! And at the same time the Worship Team was conjuring up ideas, the H & F Team was doing the same – their idea was an old-fashioned Strawberry Festival. So we combined our ideas and came up with an evening you will never forget, or at least it should be memorable – something to feed your soul and your belly!
Saturday evening, June 15 at 6 p.m. we invite you all to come to the church to join in an outdoor Hymn Sing behind the Fellowship Hall where we gather for our Easter Morning Watch service. Please bring your own lawn/camp chair or we will have some folding chairs as well. Each person will receive a hymnal and we will go to town singing a cappella the old, old hymns that we love so well and maybe even learn a few new ones along the way. All ages are invited – some can sing and some can play on the playground – it’s up to you what you want to do! And then, when we are done singing…
The H & F Team will invite us inside to an old-fashioned strawberry festival with all the fixings – fresh strawberries, homemade shortcake, ice cream, milk, whipped cream and many other strawberry treats! You can grab a bowl and remain inside or eat outside if you choose. The H & F Team will also have games available to play inside and out. So bring along your voice and your appetite and enjoy an evening of old-fashioned, homemade fun!
Please let your deacon know if you would like to attend but need a ride – we would be glad to come get you! Please put it on your calendars and plan to join us for an evening of music, food, fun and lots of fellowship! Hope to see you there!

We need your help to offset the cost of VBS. Please look for the shoe box in the gathering space and take a paper shoe with an item we need donations for.
All donations can be given by check in the offering plate with a memo VBS or online through the church website.

VBS – SEEKERS IN SNEAKERS DISCOVER JESUS
Have you ever wanted your name to appear in lights on Broadway? Did you ever consider taking a stab at professional acting? Would you love to wear elaborate costumes like they do in Bridgerton? Well, if those are some of your dreams, our theater company is not for you! But… if you ever wanted to engage in a little bit of drama to help others learn more about the ways of Jesus and if you would like to have fun sharing the Good News with others, Vacation Bible School (VBS) is the place to be!
We are looking for some eager, energetic, enthusiastic “characters” of all ages (starting around 8 years old and going to at least 88) who would be willing to give a little of their precious time the week before and during Bible School to present the daily lesson in drama. No memorization of lines required. No hours of rehearsal and painful choreography. Just a few minutes of your time to help our children learn how to be “Seekers in Sneakers”! The skits are already written and we can take our own twist on them. Won’t you please consider joining us for this meaningful summer children’s ministry? If you are willing, please contact Kim Witkovsky or Diane Gibble and we will be glad to have you join us! The more, the merrier! We will spend a short time together the week of June 16 reading through and practicing our roles and then we will share our skits each night of VBS – June 23-27 – during the opening worship time between 6 and 6:30 p.m. Then you are free to leave unless you want to volunteer in other ways during the rest of the evening. Even if you can only join us one night, we don’t want to miss your talent and desire to serve. Looking forward to hearing from you very soon! Thanks so much!
