SUNDAY, JULY 21st - FOOD DRIVE COLLECTION
Our Food Pantry continues to serve people needing food. We have seen a big increase in recent weeks. If you would like to donate to our pantry we can always use gift cards to the local grocery stores, or cash. I know some people like to give food items, so here is a list of items we can always use. Bring them to worship and our children will collect them within the service.
•Fruit Juice, •Pancake Mix & Pancake Syrup, •Cooking Oil, •Tuna,
•Canned Chicken, •Canned Corn, •Canned Mixed Vegetables, •Canned Sweet Potatoes, •Crackers, •Cereal, •Bags of Rice, •Bags of Dried Beans, •Pasta – all types,
•Granola Bars, •Boxed Mac & Cheese, •Jelly
Thank you to all who donate and those faithful volunteers who help in the Pantry whenever we are open. ~ Mary Esther Anderson

NEW COMMUNITY PROJECT (NCP) OPPORTUNITY
This Sunday Dianne Hollinger will be giving a short announcement about a need that is urgent. An indigenous village in Ecuador does not have access to fresh water. They must carry all of the water from the river that they use. This is over 200 yards (imagine going to brush your teeth, and you have to walk more than 2 football fields to get it) away from their homes. And then, that water is poisoned from run-off of palm oil plantations (herbicides and insecticides) as well as the left over chemicals that wash into the river from the oil refinery business. The people are getting sick and dying at a much higher rate since these businesses began. The school cannot keep a teacher due to this situation.
A fresh water system costs $3600. This is not in the budget for NCP. Dianne was on a Learning Tour there in June, so she got to see the the need first hand. Please come prepared to donate to this worthy cause. 100% of your donation will go towards the water system. We will be collecting for the next few weeks, so you can bring financial donations later on also. It is best to put the money/checks into a church envelope and mark it so that you can get credit for this for tax purposes.
Dianne will also be giving a formal presentation to the church in September regarding her entire trip. Stay tuned, and please consider donating so the people don't have to drink poisoned water.

Dear York First Family,
We can’t thank you enough for the prayers, cards, visits, messages, etc. during this very trying time.
It helped considerably knowing that “someone was praying us through” (one of my favorite songs).
Love, Denny & Beth Anne Bahn

Since 2011 our Witness Team has sponsored the Cash for Causes program by selling Giant & Weis gift cards. The church receives 5% of sales to support various ministries. For 2024 the gift card sales will support The Lehman Center (Children’s Aid Society), New Community Project, and Carlisle Truck Stop Ministry. You may purchase the cards in amounts of $100, $50, $25, or $10. The cards make great gifts, especially at holidays. Consider donating cards to the Food Pantry or using them yourself any time you shop at Giant or Weis.
If you’d like to support this program, please see Becky Wenger before/after worship service OR mail your check (paid to York First Church of the Brethren) to 3011 Bedford Pl, York, PA 17408 and your cards will be mailed to you.

Pastor Joel Gibbel can be reached in the church office most weekdays from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Some afternoons and evenings may be set aside for visiting those in need, for meetings, and for other pastoral duties. Pastor Joel is also available for pastoral counseling by appointment.
If you need to reach the pastor outside of office hours, his mobile number is (717) 271-4888. You can also email him at pastor@yorkfirst.org. Note that laws prevent hospitals from contacting a pastor without your permission when you are admitted, so you will need to contact the church if you desire a visit or to request prayer.
