A Note From Patty Haydon, PNC Chair
The Pastor Nominating Committee welcomes your prayers as it moves into deeper conversation with potential candidates. Watch this space for weekly reflections from PNC members.
Rev. Dean E. Foose writes in the book Searching for a Pastor the Presbyterian Way that many who serve on a pastor nominating committee say it changes their relationship with God. I am finding that I am no exception. I have prayed more in the last six months than I have in the last six years. Before serving on this committee, I could count the number of times on one hand that I think I’ve truly felt God’s presence. Now, I would need the hands of everyone on this committee to count the number of times I’ve felt God in the room with us as we debate, laugh, question, and pray.
God is sharing signs with us and equipping us as we go along this journey, and I sense that as we listen to God and to each other, we are being led to our next Pastor/Head of Staff. Additional information and updates from the PNC are available at upcch.org/pnc.
Celebrating Beth—Save the Date
On June 2, 2019 we will have our first 10:00 worship service of the summer. Immediately following that service, we will remain in the sanctuary for a brief presentation of gifts to Beth and then adjourn to the front lawn for barbecue (prepared by John Rogers!) and cake. There will be tables set up in Vance Barron Hall, and families with children are encouraged to bring blankets and enjoy the lawn. Kim and Nancy are organizing games and activities.

You won't want to miss the summer fun and chance to express your gratitude to Beth. Watch your mail for a letter with additional details, and pray for sunshine!
