Memory Visit signing and give away - Dec. 14

Jenny Lambert, a Carondelet English teacher, was inspired to write the dystopian thriller, The Memory Visit, in part because of her relationship with her daughter. "My daughter and I shared stories with each other and the protagonist was created in part with her in mind," said Jenny.

When asked about the title, Jenny said, "I have the worst memory in the world and to relive a memory in vivid detail for just a moment appealed to me."
25 copies of Jenny Lambert's The Memory Visit will be given away this Friday, Dec. 14. To enter to win, students can  click here.  Bring your copy as well. She will be available to sign copies at lunch in the Inner Court.

Think, Make, Share challenge day

"Think, Make, Share" Challenge Day
Approximately 100 freshmen competed in the Think, Make, Share challenge day to work on a surprise task.  The innovative project builds students' design thinking and teaming skills, while also giving them an opportunity to apply their music, visual, art, coding, information, and literacy skills in teams to complete a single task.

This project task was to create a child's toy in the 50-minute class period. Watch the video to see how the freshmen did!

College and Career Updates

Application Deadline for Seniors
Parents of seniors, we shared the following deadlines with your students
recently and want you to be aware of them too:
  • If your student is applying to a college with a January 1 or January 5 application deadline, she must add the college to her Naviance list, request her transcript, and ask for essay assistance by December 14. College & Career will be closed during Christmas break and will be unable to send transcripts or review essays during that time.
  • The California State University (CSU) System extended their application deadline to December 15 for all California residents due to the fires in Northern and Southern California.
Looking for College Scholarships
Parents of seniors, did you know that the College & Career team maintains a list of local and regional scholarships in Naviance under the "Scholarship List"? Additionally, we encourage your student to use the Naviance "Scholarship Match" tool. Christmas break is a great time for seniors to begin applying for scholarships.

College Lists and Admission Results
Parents, as many seniors finish their early applications and learn their admission results, we continue to urge students to keep their college lists and results private.
We like to remind students that while some may be finished with their college applications, others may not be. It's best to keep the celebration to a minimum so others can successfully finish their applications too. It's also good to remember that one student's safety school may be another's dream.

Now is a good time for your daughter to re-evaluate her college list. Does she need to add another financial or academic safety school? Can she really see herself attending the remaining schools on her list or could she narrow it down?

Our Calendar is now online!
We update our online  College and Career calendar  every week with college events happening on-campus and throughout the Bay Area, like the upcoming NACAC and Performing Arts College Fair and the Coast-to-Coast College Consortium information session. We post annual parent information nights and in-class student programs too.  Bookmark our calendar  and stay in the know. Check out the calendar here
Books for Break

Do you like to read, but never seem to have the time? The library has the answer. Books for Break is a yearly tradition where students and faculty can pack up a bag of books to bring home for the Christmas break. Stop by the library to pick up your books.
Fall sports photos needed

Yearbook is looking to connect with the parents that take photos at Carondelet sporting events.
