Fire Department Promotions (History Made!!!)
|
|
Several witnessed history last Friday as the Fire Department promoted Lindsey Hankus to the rank of lieutenant. Hankus is believed to be the first female lieutenant in the history of the department. During the ceremony, Mark Maylath was promoted to the rank of deputy chief, replacing Tim Conrad, who is retiring after 30 years of service to the department.

Many residents might now be able to use their mobile phones to send text messages to 911 during emergencies. The ‘Text-to-911’ service is available to AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon customers living in or traveling through the West Suburban Consolidated Dispatch service area, which serves the villages of Forest Park, Oak Park and River Forest.
This service is especially beneficial for individuals with speech or hearing impairments. For more information about this service, including how and when it should be used, click here.

Cook County Rental Assistance
|
If you are in need of rental assistance, the Cook County Emergency Rental Assistance Program has resources available to help. To find out if you qualify, and to apply, please click here for more information. The deadline for applying is October 29th, 2021.

ComEd Bill Payment Assistance
|
To help customers stay current with their energy bills, and to avoid additional fees, ComEd has two available programs for those needing assistance.
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federal program that can help you stay warm in during winter by providing eligible customers with a one-time payment towards your energy bills.
The Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) is a choice within Illinois LIHEAP to help manage energy bills year-round.
Applications for LIHEAP and PIPP can be submitted online, by phone or in person and are available at your Local Administering Agency. Visit LIHEAPillinois.com for more information.

On Tuesday, November 2nd, flu shots will be available at the Howard Mohr Community Center from 10am - 1pm. IDPH will also be providing Covid-19 vaccines and booster shots. For more information, please see the flyer below.

Mammogram Screening Event

On October 25th, the West Suburban Medical Center is conducting a free mammogram screening event from 3:00pm - 7:00pm. No appointment necessary. More information is available below.

The scarecrows have taken over Forest Park! Over 100 scarecrows are spread around the Village. Click here for a map that shares the locations throughout Forest Park.

Village Communications Survey

The Village of Forest Park is conducting a communications survey to help us better communicate with you. The survey will only take a few minutes to complete. Click here to participate in the survey. The survey will close on 10/29.

Upcoming Park District Events
|
|
Halloween House Decorating Contest: On October 25th, the Forest Park Halloween House Decorating Contest will begin! "Two photos will be taken of each house (day & night) on Oct. 26 and judging will run from Oct. 27-Oct. 29 at noon. Winners will be announced at 5pm on Oct. 29.
There will be two categories, Best in Show, and People's Choice. Best in Show will be judged by park district staff and commissioners, and People's Choice will be decided based on social media votes between Oct. 27-29."

Trunk or Treat: On October 30th, join the Park District of Forest Park for Trunk or Treat. During the event, you will "transform the trunk of your car into a Halloween Candy paradise! Help us surprise trick or treaters by decorating the trunk of your car and passing out treats in the Roos Recreation Center parking lot! Participation is free, but registration is required to secure a spot.
Registration is only needed for those wishing to decorate a car/table and pass out treats. Participants are responsible for their own decorations and treats. Treats must be individually wrapped." More information is available here.

Public Works Leaf Removal Program
|
|
The Village of Forest Park offers an opportunity for residents to dispose of leaves during the fall season. There is no added cost for this service. Leaves should be raked curbside into the street gutters and will later be removed by the Village's Public Works Department.
The Public Works Department Leaf Removal Program spans from October 1 – December 1 each year. The leaf pick-up schedule follows the street sweeper daily schedule, which is available by clicking here. Residents shall rake their leaves curbside a day before their scheduled pickup day. No grass clippings, bags or tree limbs are allowed. Contractors illegally dumping leaves (from other sites) will be cited.
