April 11, 2025

Dear Residents -

Unfortunately, due to the heavy rains expected tomorrow, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Earth Day Celebration has been postponed to Saturday, April 26, 2025. Mark your calendar, as it is sure to be a great day with music, food, beverages, vendors and, new this year, an opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art SKAE Astronomy Center. With a Telescope Observatory that will allow students to observe celestial phenomena, including planets, stars, comets and galaxies, it is not to be missed. How cool is that for an Earth Day event?

Also due to the weather, Orangetown’s Shredding Event has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 8:00 am – 11:30 am. On the bright side, this will give you more time to clean out your file cabinets!  In addition to bringing your paper to shred, please remember to bring a non-perishable food item as a donation for People to People.

Last week, several residents reached out with concerns about an individual in their neighborhood claiming to be a US Census Bureau worker. My office confirmed with the Bureau that they are conducting surveys, including some in our area. However, they advised that any homeowner who was contacted should have received prior written notice, via FedEx and a postcard, that a census worker would be coming to their home. To verify the validity of a census survey, mailing or contact, click HERE. As a reminder, they will never ask you for personal information – such as your social security number, bank account number or password.

Try to stay dry this weekend and, to those who celebrate, Happy Passover.

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny
