April 18, 2025

Dear Residents -

With summer on the horizon, it brings thoughts of travel to interesting places. As such, it is a good time to be reminded that starting May 7, 2025, U.S. travelers must be REAL ID compliant to board domestic flights. This is a federally compliant DMV-issued driver license or non-driver ID that will be required to board domestic flights and enter certain federal buildings (unless you have a valid passport). If your NYS license does not have a star or a flag on it, then you do not have a REAL ID. To learn about applying for one, visit HERE.

But maybe you are thinking of something tropical, like traveling to an exotic country. If so, you’re in luck because Congressman Mike Lawler has arranged for the interviews required to obtain “Global Entry” – a US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved travelers upon arrival in the United States – right here at Town Hall on May 18, 2025. Starting Monday, April 21, 2025, you can schedule to be interviewed here – but only after you have applied, paid the $120 fee and have been approved. To apply, click HERE. With limited spots available, do not delay in applying, if you are interested.

With April being National Poetry Month, there’s no better time to share a poem penned by our very own Poet Laureate, Rose Marie Raccioppi. National Poetry Month was designed to raise awareness and appreciation for poetry, so scroll down and enjoy “AWAKENED” – with my favorite lines being “to the past, to the present, and what is yet to come, to the resolve, to the light, to a known PEACE as ONE.”

Nyack Restaurant Week is April 23, 2025 to May 1, 2025, with special deals and meals at participating restaurants and merchants. For a complete list of the participating businesses, browse below or click HERE.

To those who celebrate, I want to extend warm wishes for a Happy Easter.

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny
