Dear Residents,

Although it may not feel quite like spring yet, we are just about two weeks away from opening day of the Farmers Market! Join us on May 9, 2026, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Central Avenue Field in Pearl River. To make the day even more exciting, the Pearl River Food Truck Festival will also be taking place on the field from 12 pm to 5 pm. With a fantastic variety of food and drinks, there will be something for everyone. For more details, click HERE.

In the meantime, this weekend offers plenty of things to do. From stand-up comedy tonight at the Pearl River Saloon to Sunday’s pancake breakfast at the Sparkill Fire House, there are many opportunities to connect with friends while supporting local organizations. Be sure to see below for details on these and other events.

And, to continue celebrating Earth Day, tomorrow offers a great chance to dispose of unwanted scrap metal responsibly. Boy/Cub Scout Troop #36 will be hosting a collection from 9 am to 5 pm at the Nauraushaun Swim Club parking lot. Items such as old ladders, folding chairs, metal cookware, bikes, car parts and more will be accepted. It is a great opportunity to clean out your garage, recycle and support the scouts.

Additionally, Orange & Rockland has introduced a new initiative to help New Yorkers better manage rising energy costs. Through the Enhanced Energy Affordability Program, more residents may now qualify for savings on their energy bills. Take a moment to click HERE and see if you are eligible.

As always, thank you for continuing to support our local events, businesses, and community organizations. I look forward to seeing you out and about!

Have a great weekend.

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny

Earth Day at St. Thomas Aquinas College

Supervisor Kenny attended the 5th Annual Earth Day celebration at St. Thomas Aquinas College last Saturday. The Event Planning and Management Group from the Hospitality Management Program, led by Professor Angela McDonnell, once again hosted a highly successful event. Congratulations to all who participated in organizing this celebration of sustainability and community spirit.

Democracy to Disco

On Saturday, Supervisor Kenny took a trip back in time at the Orangetown Historical Museum & Archives exhibit, 1776/1976: From Democracy to Disco. To celebrate the 250th anniversary (Semiquincentennial) of America’s Revolution, the museum reopened this popular exhibit to look at Orangetown’s revolutionary past—and how it was remembered 50 years ago.

Tappan and Pearl River Fire Department Annual Dinners

This past weekend, Supervisor Kenny had the pleasure of attending both the Tappan Fire Department and the Pearl River Fire Department Annual Dinners. The Supervisor was happy to be on hand to personally congratulate outgoing chiefs, Kory Roper of the Tappan Fire Department and Shaun Ruocco of the Pearl River Fire Department. Thanks to both of these men for their ongoing commitment to the community.

Supervisor Kenny also took the opportunity to present Evan DeVries with a plaque recognizing his service to the Orangetown USA250 Committee as a Battalion Commander for the upcoming 4th of July parade.

This service is free and anonymous. No questions asked. No needles please.
