December 12, 2025

Dear Residents,

It’s hard to believe the holidays are only days away. However, there’s still time to donate to Senator Weber’s annual Coat Drive through Monday, December 15, 2025. Please donate only new or gently worn coats and clothing. You can also drop off new, unwrapped toys for the Orangetown PBA Toy Drive, which will be accepting donations through Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Collection bins for both drives are on the first floor in Town Hall.

Come join the Rotary Club of Pearl River for “Share Christmas & the Holidays” tonight at 7 pm in Braunsdorf Park for a magical evening of caroling, hot chocolate and Santa. Then on Saturday, the Orangeburg Volunteer Fire Department and Carolyn’s Elves will host this year’s 15th annual Holiday Parade beginning at 6 pm. Lastly, on Sunday, several Menorah Lighting Ceremonies will take place across Orangetown in celebration of Chanukah, organized by Chabad of the Nyacks. See the flyers below for details on all these festive events.

Please also take a moment to review the Orangetown Police Department’s information sheet on preventing holiday-season crimes, especially tips for avoiding “porch pirate” thefts. Thankfully, no incidents have been reported in Orangetown so far—let’s keep it that way!

For those following the requested zone change from warehouse to multifamily for the property at 155 South Greenbush Road, please note that the hearing scheduled for the next Town Board meeting on December 16, 2025 has been cancelled. Information about a future date will be provided at the meeting.

As a reminder, Town Board meetings can be viewed on Facebook Live, Cablevision Channel 78, FIOS Channel 30 and YouTube.

Wishing everyone an enjoyable weekend and Happy Chanukah to all who celebrate!

Regards,

Filipino Association of Rockland Holiday Party

Supervisor Kenny was delighted to attend the Filipino Association of Rockland Holiday Party at the Pearl River Hilton. The Association remains steadfast in its mission to promote Filipino culture, traditions, and values through meaningful social engagement. President Mark Sanchez was an exceptional host, ensuring a warm and festive celebration for all in attendance.

The Orangetown Police Department would like to remind residents to take precautions regarding two common seasonal theft issues:

🔹 Envelope Theft:

During the holiday season, some community members place gift envelopes on their garbage or recycling bins for sanitation workers. This practice can attract opportunistic individuals.

🔹 Package Theft:

Similarly, “porch pirates” tend to be more active during the holidays, taking advantage of unattended deliveries left at doorsteps. Again, no incidents have been reported locally, but these crimes are common in many communities this time of year.

How You Can Protect Yourself:

✅ Avoid leaving cash or gift envelopes outside on collection days. When possible, hand gifts directly to your sanitation workers.

✅ Bring delivered packages indoors promptly.

✅ Use delivery notifications, secure package boxes, or ask a trusted neighbor to pick items up if you’re not home.

✅ Report any suspicious activity—such as individuals checking garbage bins or following delivery trucks.

✅ Ensure home surveillance systems are functioning, if you use them.

Our goal is to help residents stay ahead of preventable crime. Your awareness and the sharing of this message help keep our community have a safe and happy holiday season.
