Dear Residents,
It appears Mother Nature is making up for several years of mild winters. While uncertainty remains regarding the storm’s exact track and impacts, current forecasts indicate dangerously cold temperatures tomorrow, with snow developing late Saturday and continuing into early Monday. Weather models are projecting snowfall totals ranging from 12-16 inches.
It is important to take this storm seriously and prepare for the possibility of significant winter conditions. Ensure you have flashlights and batteries available in case of a power outage, and pick up any essentials you may need before Tuesday—such as prescription medications. I also encourage you to take a few minutes to review the storm safety tips below from FEMA.
Please be advised that when snowfall exceeds 2 inches, all roads where overnight parking is prohibited are deemed emergency routes and no vehicles may be parked on them until the snow has ceased and the roads have been cleared. Vehicles parked on these roads may be towed or ticketed. So, please do not park on the street during the storm and allow our snow plow crews to safely clear the roads and emergency personnel to respond safely and without delay.
To stay informed about the storm, visit the National Weather Service website for the latest updates. If you experience a power outage, be sure to report it to O&R. Orangetown Town Hall will be open as a warming center beginning this Saturday at 9 am. Please note that garbage collection will be suspended on Monday, January 26, 2026.
If possible, I urge you to stay home during the storm, where you will be safe and warm.
