Dear Residents -
I want to start by wishing you a happy and healthy 2025. Unfortunately, with the tragic news out of New Orleans in the early hours of New Year’s Day, I know it is not how any of us wanted to start our year off. My thoughts go out to the victims and their families, and I pray for the speedy recovery of the many injured still fighting for their lives.
After the holidays, things around Orangetown are a bit quiet. However, there will be a blood drive at Town Hall on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 1 pm to 7 pm. It is National Blood Donor Month and the New York Blood Center is extremely low on supplies, so if you can, please donate.
The first Town Board meeting of the year is on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 7 pm, and it is the annual re-organizational meeting. There will be appointments and other housekeeping items taken care of, and I will make some remarks on the State of Orangetown. While customarily there is no other business conducted at this meeting, there will be a public hearing to consider changes to the Do Not Knock local law, which will help with our enforcement efforts.
It looks like winter is about to rear its ugly head—with a polar vortex moving into our area, bringing with it below-average temperatures. While it is too early to know exactly how cold it will get, there could be dangerously freezing temperatures. For information about the Rockland County warming center, CLICK HERE.
Have a great weekend everyone and, if you venture outside, be sure to bundle up!
Regards,
