Dear Residents,
Thank you to everyone who played a role during the recent snowstorm—from the residents who stayed off the roads to our town employees and dedicated first responders. Your cooperation and hard work helped keep our community safe.
While the snowstorm has passed, below-freezing temperatures are expected to continue. Please keep the following cold-weather safety tips in mind:
✅ DO
- Dress in layers, including hats, gloves, and scarves to prevent heat loss.
- Limit time outdoors during extreme cold and windy conditions.
- Check on elderly neighbors and those who may need extra assistance.
- Use space heaters safely and keep them away from flammable materials.
- Keep pets indoors or ensure they have proper shelter and unfrozen water.
❌ DON’T
- Don’t use generators, grills, or propane heaters indoors or in enclosed spaces.
- Don’t leave vehicles running in garages or near snow-blocked exhaust pipes.
- Don’t ignore signs of frostbite or hypothermia, such as numbness or confusion.
Despite the frigid temperatures, there are still a few events happening this weekend. To see what’s going on, please take a look at the flyers below.
For those feeling adventurous, the pond at Veterans Memorial Park is cleared and open for skating. Ice thickness is measured daily, as conditions may change with the weather. Please pay attention to the posted flags—green means safe for skating, and red means unsafe/no skating. If you’re brave enough, bundle up and enjoy some time out on the ice.
Personally, I am going to find some indoor activities to pass the time, such as doing a puzzle or just sitting by the fireplace enjoying a warm, adult beverage.
Whatever you decide to do, enjoy!
