Dog Days of Summer Fundraiser

At the July 28th Town Board Meeting, Supervisor Teresa M. Kenny proudly presented the Hudson Valley Humane Society with a check for $1,306, representing the proceeds from the Dog Days of Summer fundraiser held at the Veterans Memorial Park splash pad.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, donated and volunteered. Your generosity will help the Hudson Valley Humane Society continue its important work of caring for animals in our community. And a special thanks to the very well-behaved 80+ dogs who enjoyed getting wet with their owners.

Grand Opening of O' Sapore 67

Supervisor Kenny participated in the official ribbon-cutting ceremony last Wednesday for O' Sapore 67, an authentic Italian restaurant now open at 67 Old Tappan Road in Tappan. Please stop by to enjoy a delicious meal and support this new Orangetown business.

The Orangetown Police Department would like to remind motorists that floodwaters are deeper and more dangerous than they appear.

  • Never drive through flooded roads.
  • Just 6 inches of moving water can knock an adult off their feet.
  • Just 12 inches of moving water can carry away most vehicles.
  • Roads beneath floodwater may be washed out or damaged.
  • Obey road closure signs and barricades—they are there to protect you.
  • If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around and find another route.

Before Flooding

  • Stay informed by monitoring weather forecasts and emergency alerts.
  • Have an emergency kit and family communication plan.
  • Know multiple evacuation routes.

During Flooding

  • Move to higher ground immediately if flooding threatens.
  • Never walk, swim, or drive through floodwaters.
  • Keep children and pets away from floodwaters.
  • Avoid downed power lines and standing water.
