Dear Residents -
You may have noticed some exciting improvements taking place in Orangetown’s parks. New shade structures have been installed at the pickleball courts, the Sparkill playground, the dog park and the splash pad—just in time for the summer heat. Coming soon, two new water filling stations are being added along the Joseph B. Clarke Rail Trail: one by Depot Square in Sparkill and the other near the Blauvelt Library. These will be a welcome addition for residents and visitors, as well as their four-legged friends.
Last weekend, I had the privilege of speaking at the League of Women Voters of Rockland County's annual meeting. While there, I learned about a valuable resource to help residents prepare for Election Day. At VOTE411, you can enter your address to view your ballot, verify your voter registration, locate your polling place and compare candidates.
As a reminder, early voting for the primary election begins tomorrow. Please see the flyer below for details on early voting locations and hours.
It’s shaping up to be an exciting weekend for sports fans. Tonight at 9 pm, Team USA takes on Paraguay in the FIFA World Cup. Then tomorrow night, the Knicks face the Spurs and are just one win away from their first NBA championship since 1973.
Have a wonderful weekend— and let’s go, Team USA & Knicks!

Last Saturday, Allison Kardon, representing Supervisor Kenny, joined members of the FDNY, the Tappan Fire Department, and the Rockland County Fire Service to dedicate Lombardi Road between Lang Terrace and Van Wormer Road in Pearl River as Cpt. Frederick Simms Way.
Captain Frederick “Freddie” Simms, Jr. devoted his life to serving and protecting others. He served 22 years with the FDNY and more than 27 years with the Tappan Volunteer Fire Department, including as chief. Widely respected as an instructor, mentor, and leader, he helped train countless firefighters throughout his career.
Captain Simms passed away at the age of 49 after battling a 9/11-related cancer. The dedication of Cpt. Frederick Simms Way stands as a lasting tribute to his service, sacrifice and enduring impact on the firefighting community.

Last Sunday, Lee Zeldin, Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), joined local elected officials at the Rockland Green Co-Composting Facility to see firsthand how Rockland County is transforming food waste into a valuable resource.
This program helps to reduce landfill waste, supports local communities and advances practical environmental solutions. Supervisor Kenny is proud that Orangetown was the first municipality in Rockland County to champion food scrap recycling, a program that has since expanded into four of Rockland County’s five towns.
