Dear Residents -

Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, marking the end of slavery in the United States, and celebrate the contributions Black Americans have made to our nation and our community. As you enjoy local events and family gatherings, I encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the significance of this important milestone in our history. Juneteenth is both a celebration of freedom and an opportunity to recognize the ongoing pursuit of equality and opportunity for all.

This weekend, the Pearl River Park and Activities Committee will host its annual carnival at the Central Avenue Field. The carnival serves as the primary fundraiser for Pearl River’s 4th of July fireworks display, so please consider stopping by to enjoy the festivities while supporting a great community tradition.

Please note that due to the carnival, the Pearl River Farmers Market will be relocated this Saturday to the South William Street municipal parking lot. Be sure to visit and support our local vendors. To see a list, click HERE.

Dog lovers won’t want to miss the Dog Days of Summer fundraiser tomorrow from 12 pm to 2 pm at the Orangetown Splash Pad. Admission is $10 per dog but humans are free 😊. All proceeds will benefit the Hudson Valley Humane Society. A taco truck and ice cream truck will also be on site with refreshments available for purchase.

Finally, as Father’s Day approaches, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to all fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures in our community. Thank you for all that you do.

Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny
